Just a guess, but the K-new may use IMX571BQR APS-C sensor from Sony. On the other hand, it may use Samsung sensor according some old speculation. I hope for 120p FHD, 4K at 60p is OK for me. And now, Pentax please deliver revamp of 16-50 f/2.8 and 50-135 f/2.8.

I don’t know where these “leaks” came from... if someone can give us some dependable source it would be nice. Even give some hints whether something that they learnt is an estimation or a certain spec of the new camera. I will wait a bit more for an official announcement, because high hopes are being building up and this is the fastest road to frustration and disappointment if the real specs are not so advanced when announced...

Is there any semi-official claim that the the new APS-c will be released by June or so? If so I would have to assume more details will be coming from Ricoh within a few weeks, teaser stuff anyway.

Hmm... What is the point in going from 14 to 16 bits? Even with 14 the last bit is likely to be rather meaningless.
Wouldn’t it gain DOFDR?

These specifications are nice if true, but main complaints I heard about KP were buffet and battery oriented.

Depth of field is defined optically by the aperture.
In theory the additional bits could give you more shades, colours, possibly even dynamic range. It is just that even 14 bits is more than current sensors can resolve in real life. And way more than any display or printer can show. The downside is that file sizes continue to grow. Why go this way if the additional bits do not buy you anything?
This is why I started to wonder.

I am not worried about buffer or battery life of Knew, it will not have KP flaws for sure

I did not have any flaw with the batteries at KP. I think there are more theoretical stories on the forums.

There was talk a few months back (I don't remember where) about a sensor chip that would basically do its own highlight clipping protection.
That took the form of something to the effect of "I had color data at this level X but was exposed to something Y stops higher".
If you had something like that, then 16 bits might be useful. Sure, your monitor won't show it and your printer won't be able to print it, but it would allow a huge amount of manipulation of an image...
I think it would be cool to be able to recover highlight data in the future like we recover shadow data today...

Will Lightroom or Photoshop know what to do with 16-bit color depth or will get a new version of DCU?

Full Well Capacity of 86,000 electrons.

It defines the amount of charge an individual pixel can hold before saturating.
