I bought an SC for cheap from one who had won it in a contest. I'm planning on taking it with me on hikes to take panoramic shots á la Street View on Google Maps, and maybe upload them to Google Maps.

I’m in the same position as others here, in that, although I find the concept interesting, I’m not sure what I’d do with a 360° camera. I can see an application for immersive video, using AR, but I’d be happy to see the range of things people are actually doing with a Theta.
Well, i took it for several uses :
- social events
- landscaping, natural descriptions
- real estate "memory" and virtual visits

So far i wasn't impressed with IQ, but the Z1 litterally exploses the former models on dynamic range, shadow recovery, low CA and better noise management.
RAW format is definitely a good option, despite the fact that SOOC Jpegs are already excellent (better auto white balance than on any Pentax DSLR ! ).

The Theta is used by several architectural firms in my area to document spaces by taking 360 photos. It has been surprisingly popular for business use.

I see on the Theta SC2 page that they have an all new Underwater mode that corrects the white balance for underwater shots.
Seems that this model is weather resistant!

Hopefully when the SC2 comes out someone will post a comparison between it and the original SC...

I just saw the announcement on the Ricoh Imaging us website. I like they have include a lens by lens exposure and can't wait to try it out, because I've experienced a few times one hemisphere is lighter than another. Also the added control buttons will make it even easier to use. Blue tooth control sounds good too. But most importantly i need to know where the actor in the video goth the pole to hold the Theta.

Interesting that the Ricoh Manager from Europe really highlighted the B2B (Business to Business) use of the Theta.

I own a Theta S, and though I need to devote more time to using its functions properly and more quickly, I can honestly say that I really like it for a variety of situations.
There is a Theta thread on PF, I encourage those who are curious to look at the images, as well as Ricoh';s Theta pages and the images hosted there. With what I'm seeing from the Theta Z users, the newest version's image quality is very good.

I saw the SC2 today. They are basically updates versions of the SC, so there's nothing much to add from just seeing them.

The body colours are brighter than before and the finish is very shiny now, not matte like before. That difference doesn't come across in the product images so well. I think I prefer the SC to the new version, but that's just a question of taste.

I thought so too, until I looked at what people have been doing with the Insta360 OneX for video.
at 5.7k for the 360 video, its starting to be enough to use it to re-frame as 1080p video.

It gives the unique ability to capture myself and at the same time switch to other more interesting items along the way.
Before this, with a standard action camera, it will be stopping to switch/mount for different angles.
