If a modern FF can be purchased with 2000, the price of 1800-2000 will be a bit high for a small sensor device, no matter what it can.

The K1 ii can be found for 1700€, it's unlikely that the APS-C will cost the same or more !

K1- £1275, K1ii - £1495 on amazon right now. I can't see the K-new being much cheaper than that

We really shouldn't guess about price until we know something about the specifications - at least.

Well, a new D500 costs about $1500. Since I think that's roughly what they would want this to be competing against, and hopefully surpassing, seems like a price in that range is not out of the question.

D500 is four year old technology and lacks features K-New will have. I expect K-New to be priced at a premium to current D500, and comparable to or above K-1ll. OTOH Ricoh could surprise us and price K-New aggressively. in that case I would expect rapid release of high-end bodies in the other two formats to build volume for the new tech components.

We don't know yet what features the K-new will have - and certainly we have no clue on the performance.
Pentax doesn't yet have any cameras that get close to the D500 in terms of focus or frame rate, although that will hopefully change in half a year

We hear so much about focusing, but even the KP does better than the D500 in NR, DR, and color preservation at High ISO settings {look at last photo in Pentax KP First Shots: Going head-to-head against the Nikon D500 at ISO 819,200!

Exclusively because of the accelerator (which is present in the not-so-expensive K-70). The one and only thing that is specific to the D500, 7D and other top-of-line APS-C cameras is the focusing and speed. The D7500 takes about the same pictures as the D500 and costs substantially less. Five hundreds of USD in fact. If you look for IQ per dollar, the D3500 is flat out unbeatable.

Unless the K-new is *substantially* better than the Canikon offerings it will have no business costing as much as (or even more than) the K-1ii, which packs A LOT of impressive features.

Yes, "consumer build" cameras, like the D3500 and the K-70, cost less ..... but you get what you pay for - namely "consumer build".

Yes, the D500 was US$2000 at launch and is now US$1500 rrp, so I would not be surprised to see the K-New launched at US$1600-1800, perhaps not quite as much as the K-1II rrp but we will see.

Regrettably people keep repeating that untruth despite the Astronomy Photography report that they could not find a single missing star

The price of the K-New has to scale with other Pentax offerings. Yes, the D500 was $2000 at launch, but Nikon's FF bodies also exceed
$3000, which is considerably higher than the K-1 at launch.

I would expect the K-New to launch at a price less than whatever the K1ii is then currently priced.

What if it has to be priced higher than that, in order to offer the expected substantial performance boost?
