Take care. I once received a mark for using the EeyoreTM

A lens can also fit a teleconverter.
And a reverse ring.

The one for the "Q" was particularly strange (humorous?) in that the lack of an EVF is a well-known and oft-mentioned short-fall of the series. The idea that it and its progeny are a continuation of the Pentax Auto 110 cameras from the early 1980s only added to the levity.

Hi Steve, there's some truth about Auto 110 lineage.

Pentax itself revealed that the original idea of Q dates back to their proof-of-the-concept experiment "auto 110 digital" at around 2000. It was a CCD sensor in an Auto110 body connected to an external board by a bunch of test leads, it actually was able to capture photos.
The concept was no-go at the time, they (developers who wanted to make it) regularly made new proposals, each time the manager rejected it, until finally the market trend changed somewhat in 2009.

Interesting...

The key word is "continuation" (used in the advent calendar post). The Auto 110 line went off the market in 1985 and the Q launched 26 years later. I would expect a "continuation" to be an SLR with a sensor size somewhat close to the 13x17mm size of the 110 frame. I would also expect a few intermediate models and maybe even a continuation of the Auto 110 mount or adaptability of the older camera's lenses to the Q-mount. As it is, the common properties are that both are ILC of similar size with both sporting the Pentax name on the front.

The biggest commonality I see is use case - I use my Q-7 exactly as I used my 110 camera - the camera I grab for photograph at home, and what I take with me I’m not sure whether or not I’ll see anything to photograph.

Now Christmas is over maybe it is time to release the latest camera in time for the boxing day sales.

Probably a good thing as the wallet is starting to strain already.

That makes us two. I thought it was a good time for some more info about the K-new, but they seem to keep it for 2020...

And a confirmation that K mount is here to stay.
As though they have a choice. K-mount is a major part of the wealth they purchased.

We'll have to listen closely to see if in three days someone at Ricoh mumbles next year, again.

Maybe they will really surprise us all by reviving the 600mm f4 with HD coating .... at the same time.

When the KP was released the DA* 11-18 followed that matched its character. Now with a K-3 successor there should come a tele lens to match its character as a fast/sport/wildlife camera as well. I would love to see such a monster or any tele prime but I think the 70-300 would be the one from the roadmap that could "match" the K-new release and also fill the FF gap of a "cheap" tele to go with the 28-105.

Since the 55-300 plm will find a body to further utilize its potential, and the 70-300 will be a lens for the FF/APS-C users a surprise would be more than welcome, even if it will be another dot on the new lens roadmap.

Using vintage lenses instead of buying new lenses from Ricoh is the nastiest thing that can be done to hurt the Pentax business.
