Very intriguing. Definitely a lens of interest if it performs well. The promised working distance at those magnification levels is very
attractive.

Not quite certain what Telecentric Performance is........

I wonder how many people will purchase this lens and then be disappointed when it doesn't perform well outside of macro photography?

This looks very good indeed, but I'm just wondering whether the working distance is measured from the front element (which would be impressive) or from the image plane; the text is not clear on this.

Neither do I

Again, if I understand it well, it doesn't focus to infinity and probably won't focus on medium distances either. Can we expect many people to miss this when they purchase such a specialised lens?

Most importantly, I'm happy that this is another lens available in K-mount, dispelling myths about Pentax' doom.

Quite interesting lens. At 5X specs say the focal length is 25mm and 85mm at life size. So is this a zoom design? Doubt this lens has the ability to focus at infinity. It is 1X - 5X macro only. Very specialized lens. Doesn't appear to have A electrical contacts for Pentax. Would still love to shoot it once.

Thanks,
barondla

It doesn't perform outside of macrophotography at all: the 'distance scale' is graduated according to magnification ratio and goes from 1x to 5x. The lens cannot go beyond 1x.

No, it is not but the focal length decreases when the magnification ratio increases, like most macro lenses but in a proportion we're not used to, as we're not used to 5x magnification ratio either.

That was my point. Nonetheless, I can imagine an impulsive buyer thinking they can get the best of both worlds with this
lens.

This lens seems to be very interesting!

The announced working distance at 1:1 (230mm) is similar to the Sigma 180mm macro F/3.5's working distance, huge!
The announced working distance at 5:1 is stellar: 95mm. For information, the "famous" Canon MP-E 65's working distance at 5:1 is 41mm only!
In fact it is hard to believe.

Interesting lens. It looks good. Too bad, I already have a DFA 100 WR. Otherwise, I would be looking deeply into this.

You can look at Zyoptics' site : Mitakon Creator 85mm f/2.8 1-5X Super Macro :

Minimum Working Distance 272mm (1X) – 100mm (5X)

If Pentax does not introduce in camera focus stacking then I find this lens more interesting than the 100mm macro.
