is there any information on the release date of the new crop body ? the reason i am asking is that a load of my gear was stolen at Bill Baggs state park including the K3 and since insurance is covering a little less than half what i lost i replaced the newer stuff with that and am replacing crop body equipment as i can afford it. i am looking at a used K3 on the forums but if the new one will be released soon i might wait for it. also if the moderators say its ok i will post what happened as a warning. nothing is safe in a locked car anymore.

People speculate the new camera will be announced at CP+ (end of February) and available between April and June.

how long ago was it

have you looked at Lenstag.com

Lenstag - Free theft protection and monitoring for cameras, lenses and video equipment

they do say they have been helpful in recovery of stolen items

although it is more difficult to register equipment after the theft

That sucks. Especially at Christmas. 4-6 months maybe is quite a wait.

At least, now people can do some planning/thinking, which is different from when K-3ii owners had only a promise that "someday" Pentax would release a replacement.

You'll all miss the excitement of anticipation once the K-New is actually released. At present it's all potential. Enjoy it while
it lasts, the camera will be here soon enough.

Its like waiting for a baby as the expectant father .... I have K20d, passed on my K5 to a student, a K3 and a K1 I am hoping the new crop will be just the trick with the 150-450 for wildlife... I would love Pentax to revive the 600mm f4... just a bit of a gamble buying from ebay.

I'm now hoping it doesn't come too soon, since I've just purchased a K1-II.
But for everybody else I'm hoping for a CP+ anouncement.

Personally I'm probably waiting on the first cash back promotion (unless that takes longer than christmas 2020)

I am sorry you don't have a backup camera - if you could depend on that, you could wait to make a decision.

Slightly off the topic, however what sort of insurance covers this ..is it Homeowner's policy?
Or some additionally purchased travel policy?
