Nice shots Matt and Lennybloke! Thanks for posting.

Also enjoyed reading the review of this lens, nicely done.

Hiking distances with the 15-30/28-105/70-210 2.8 is getting a little harder for me -- I was wondering whether anyone had compared the F4 version with the f2.8. How much, if any, sharpenss, etc. would I be losing if sold the 2.8 and bought the 4.0. Is there a comparison or review of the two head to head anywhere that I could take a look at?

Thanks for the comment - I'd add that I don't own both lenses, and I'm sure that the 70-200/2.8 is the better lens - but from my travel use of the 70-210/4.0 I'm also sure that the minimal compromise I am making is well worth it (weight over potential quality on some shots). I used to own an FA*80-200/2.8 and although that had a character of its own I would not be prepared to lug it around anymore

You can use the data in each in-depth review of the lenses, they are comparable even if not displayed in the same page.

Long story short, the 70-200 F2.8 is the better lens, but the 70-210mm F4 is pretty good, and has impressive AF.
