Not on what he says is a prototype, obviously a few months ago. I certainly hope the final version includes the window; I will often have a polarizer on this lens.

I doubt it. I own the DFA 24-70 and DFA 15-50 and neither of them has this feature. My guess is that Tamron is just using a tweaked version of this lens hood and they don't have this feature.

Huh, I had no idea.A t least the lens hoods on those are shallow, so not difficult to reach in an adjust a CPL - just like the DA 12-24/4.

The DFA 28-105 does have the window.

And again, after focus stands still there is some significant timespan until we hear a beep sound. I hope this will change with future bodys. I am really close to choose shutter prio over focus prio because I did miss shots after the focus finished due to this waiting time.
Af-motor speed, just from looking at this, seemed to be a litte quicker than what I remember from the 70-200 f2.8.
they're pointing it at a white ceiling testing lens speed from mfd to infinity... not trying to focus on something. i feel like the k-1ii has eliminated the micro-focusing before the beep.

It certainly is much better with the k1 ii compared to the k3 ii

I wonder if this cooperation with Tamron will eventually go beyond just rebadging of some lenses from current Tamron's portfolio. Just like Panasonic & Leica team reached out to Sigma, maybe a joint initiative between Ricoh and Tamron will form and we'll see some entirely new lenses for either Pentax K mount, 645 mount or hypothetical mirrorless system from Ricoh.

People at the DPR forums saying that this lens "looks like a manual lens from the 70s" as if that was a bad thing, lol.
I stopped visiting DPR quite a long time ago ... too much negativity against anything Pentax in there.
Bunch of "we know it all"'s
This new lens will certainly appeal to those who wanted the reach, the zoom and the lesser weight; plus the quality of the product.
The heck with DPR !!

It's a lens designed and manufactured by Ricoh, not by Tamron like the other three.

Yes, that is the point. The 15-30 & 24-70 (Tamron) and 12-24 (Tokina) don't have the window while the 28-105 (Pentax) does.

Isn't that the purpose of all of the newer coatings as well as the hood? Reduce flare?

There we can see some light deflector.
My point was to get the original picture.

I wonder if the PH-RBK hood will fit -- the DA*50-135 and 60-250 both use it and both also have a 67mm filter thread.

I wonder if 20 more pages will be dedicated to a hole in a piece of plastic

Without a filter thread, there'd be no use for it on the 15-30mm. But it's surprising that Pentax doesn't add such a signature Pentax feature, not even on the top of the line 24-70mm.
