1.4 is the teleconverter.

So, if you put the DFA 70-210 on a crop camera with the teleconverter, you have a more or less exact field of view equivalent to the DFA150-450 on full frame.

I just thought it was interesting.
Ricoh, in fact, suggests doing that to reduce your kit's weight. The page for the 70-210 has several comparisons, to the point of saying that carrying a K-1 + KP + TC + 70-210 weighs the same as K-1 + 150-450 but gives you the range advantage because you have 70-150mm available

Gives you the range from 20mm to 1000mm if you stitch panos and crop.

Heading to japan 2021...perhaps I don't need to bring DFA* 70-200 with me because I can just buy something similar from there...it could be even less than that by then.

Real men throw out upon the opening of the paggage, the instruction manual. I’m going to be a real man this time. Actually when I bought my 70-200 from shanghai, I left to them the paggage, but kept the paperwork(need it for customs anyway).

Pentax has long been renowned for its weird numbers: 31, 43, 77. Perhaps there is some deeper meaning.
Then why wasn't the 43 a 42? Hmmm.

Perhaps Pentax couldn't handle the pressure of a FA 42/1.9 Ltd being the answer to everything?

For those interested in comparative photos, here is the new 70-210 against its big brother and two crop cousins

And with the DA* 60-250 fully extended

If anyone wants me to do any specific comparative shots between the 70-210 and any of the other three, I'll try to accommodate over the weekend.

Please note that my DA* 60-250 is NOT modified for full frame use.

Ha, so you have it already Sandy! That's ahead of schedule. I see the Australian Pentax web store is showing it in stock, days before expected.

I admire you early adopters, willing to take a land mine for the rest of us.

I don't see it as a land mine. If satisfying my curiosity can be informative for others then everybody wins.
