should be ok with the film cams.

And with PZ-1 type, MZ-6, should also be able to do AV.

But, no AF.
Will have to manual focus.
Nope, 'cos KAF4 lens.

I think it would be better wide open than stopped all the way down like many of the DA lenses on the older film bodies...

So on any film camera it becomes a f4.0-only lens with manual focus, right?

Or is the focus/zoom by wire?

If it's good enough wide open, that's still a viable possibility for some film use, if you're desperate...

Doing some clicking around, I think going to a Nikon film setup and the Tamron flavor of the lens is probably the smart step forward. One of the Vivitar S1 70-2x0's is probably the better path forward if the requirement is k-mount.

Only in Pentax land would we look backward to attach a modern lens made for current and future bodies to film era gear.

I am in the distinct minority on this. Most people thinking this way would have moved to a different system, like Nikon, or Leica, I believe.

Something tells me I’d have no better luck with the Nikon version on my Nikkormat than the Pentax one on my K1000

Modern lens + vintage body... I'm thinking a Steampunk village.

I guess the Pentax 1000mm F8 is a little like a menhir (5+ kg and 750mm).

Who is our Obelix, though?

Pentax 6x7 800mm f/4. 17.7kg and 60cm (nearly 2 feet) long. I saw one at MPS in Saskatoon when I was in town one time. It was a monster.
