I second that. Olympus added it to their TG series a few models back, and I wouldn't have thought it would be terribly hard to implement, possibly just a change to firmware to support it.
I wonder if that’s a feature sold by the OEM to the marketer (Ricoh or Olympus) and if maybe Olympus paid for an exclusive...

The annoying thing is that the Olympus cameras generally have better features... I guess Olympus pays a bit more for theirs...

The last two Olympus TG series went from a 16M to 12M pixel sensor to improve low light performance, but Ricoh appears to have stuck with a 16M pixel sensor for the last few iterations, so there's a bit more than just the same internals wrapped in different bling with different firmware.

The WG series was marketed as a GoPro alternative when it was still branded Pentax, there is an accessory lineup for attaching your WG camera to just about anything, including tent pegs.
Got that kit on clearance at the Camerastore. Have used it s9 far on my man bike and kajak.

I knew there had to be something to justify a new model number.
After carefully parsing the specifications for both the WG-60 and WG-70, I discovered the following changes:

- additional digital filters; "Image Tone: Bright, Natural, Vibrant, Slide Film, Monochrome, Cross Processing" are added to "B&W / Sepia, Toy Camera, Retro, Color, Extract Color, Color Emphasis, High Contrast, Starburst, Soft, Fish-eye, Brightness, Miniature Filter" from the WG-60.

- the WG-70 is no longer "FlashAir Compatible"

- supplied power adapter is now "D-PA164E - 30218" instead of "li-ion - 38657"

- optional "Carabiner - 38067" and "Chest harness - 50284" are no longer available

- optional "AC adapter K-AC117E - 38971", "Floating Strap - 50195" and "Black neoprene case - 50242" are no longer available

- new options for the WG-70 are: "Camer Case O-CC135 - 38859" and for those looking for a camera case instead of a camer case, "Camera Case O-CC118 - 39945" along with "Protector Jacket O-CC1252 - 39986" and "Sport Strap O-ST81 - 39457"

Fortunately, the WG-70 still has Face Detection AF&AE up to 32 faces and Face Detection up to 1 pet's face.

I raise a strong protest: this is animal discrimination!

They need to make this camera matches the sensor and lens tech going into phones or else no one is going to buy these.
