Only thing that bothers me is that not too long ago I had no problem selling Pemtax gear i dont need anymore. Last half the year I cannot sell gear in mint condition for half price i bought it.
I still own the "Super Program" I purchased in 1983 - and have long since forgotten what a paid for it.

I use everything way past "mint condition".

It's understandable. I get around it because I always buy intending to grind the item down to the last possible use so it's not a huge problem.

Investors meeting (27 March 2020), Q&A session:

Q: You stated that under the 19th Mid-Term Management Plan there have been no sacred cows in your business selectivity initiatives. Does that mean that you have completed them? What about your camera business?

A: We have basically completed the work on businesses targeted for selectivity in 2017, at the start of the 19th Mid-Term Management Plan. That said, we are constantly considering business reviews amid the tremendous changes we are seeing in the competitive climate and economic conditions. We are often asked about the camera business, and it is improving.

^ The revenue from Pentax-branded equipment isn't flat, it's declining, at least in Europe: -15% to -20% year on year.

That's still better than the DSLR market, as measured by CIPA shipments: -16.7% in 2018 and -41.3% in 2019.
Yeah, our dog's breath is better than your dog's breath.

Which is exactly how you should think of it.
A person should never thing of photographic equipment as an "investment" as the word is usually used.

You've made a point, several times, of noting that Ricoh has made a mistake in letting the flagship APS-C shelf sit empty for years. My K-3ii is a wonderful camera, too. But it might be nice to have an equivalent body with image quality and a few other features of the now three-year-old KP. And every time I imagine the shutter sounding a bit off I wonder what I'd replace my camera with if it fails.

Ricoh is engaged in a form of queuing theory. Just how long can customers at the grocery store wait in line before they give up, abandon their carts and leave? The store does this to minimize the number of cashiers they have to pay. Ricoh apparently does this because of a lack of resources to produce more cameras and lenses. But just the same, people will eventually go somewhere else. Hopefully the K-new comes soon, and is really good.
There's a small rumor the DFA*85/1.4 will be released in May. It supposedly had been scheduled for announcement at CP+ but of course the shutdown messed up their plan. I’ll buy it now rather than next fall it just to support Ricoh Imaging. That will probably cancel my plan to buy K-new. KP will have to do.

And they did just release a good zoom lens. The way I see it Ricoh Imaging releases a new product about once every six or eight weeks. I hardly think that is testing Queuing Theory unless the only queue you want to stand in is for K-mount bodies. I’d guess K-new is next, possibly announced late July and released before Labor Day.

Do you mean months? I suppose that's right if you include the older lenses with updated coatings like the 10-17mm and the 35mm. They release about 1-2 lenses a year to support two lines of cameras (FF and APS-C), with the other two (Q and 645) essentially in stasis. The last two APS-C camera releases were 2015 and 2017.

It is what it is. I certainly don't need to spend $1000+ on a camera, my K-3ii is just fine. And I'm not dying for any particular lens I can't get, although everyone has a wishlist.

I count 12 items on your list and that averages out to be one every month (4 weeks). So, on its face the statement by Monochrome seems pretty close to accurate. Although, they certainly weren't spaced out evenly in their release dates.
