Can't a thread ever keep somewhat on topic? Every thread seems to ebb and flow every direction talking about rehashed drivel that has little to no relevance to the thread title. I am very interested in this lens, and instead of learning more about it via this thread, I find people talking about Pentax (again) being irrelevant. Ughh…..
I am not saying that Pentax is irrelevant. Pentax makes very good products, but we need to talk more about it because so much of our modern society has never encountered it.

Talking about it here, among a group of brand enthusiasts, is somewhat preaching to the choir.

Yes, but we can also talk about it elsewhere.
I regularly talk about my KP - and when appropriate I show photos - usually with high ISO values that do impress people - at other photo discussion forums.

Since somebody else has already posted the images, I guess there is little harm in uploading some closer images. These are just snaps of the page using a GR III. The framing might be a little odd, but I wanted to show some characteristics of the lens, such as the shape of the bokeh highlights.

Below: f2.8, ISO100

Below: f2.8, ISO400

Below: f1.4, ISO100

The images are all JPEG, taken with a K-1 II and a pre-production DFA* 85 by the photographer Ichiro Fujisato.

In the article itself the photographer does not mention the gear he is using at all. It is the photographer's views on the practice of taking portraits and the only indication that it is the new lens is if you look at the metadata. So I'm not going try to translate it, but you wouldn't learn anything new about the lens anyway.

Elsewhere in the magazine they show the same image of the new lens and the same information they put in the recent press release - nothing more.

Whoa. I had forgotten that name. At one time mentioning that guy was frowned upon.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the bokeh looks excellent. The rest of the image quality is hard to judge as it is an image of an image. However, the photographer seems to be very good at what he does as well.

To summarize, the lens is bad but perhaps it's a bad sample and he's waiting for Ricoh to contact him.
