Bring it on. I will be the only person on my block to have one.
Heck, I will probably be the only person in Saskatchewan to have one.

I think this stuff gets run through a Japanese to English translation program with the English speaker on the Japanese side and a Japanese speaker on the English side.

Is it a dead link now?
Attached a screenshot I took before they disabled the link tonight....at least we can order already this Thursday...and not just after Christmas or in May 2021 😁

The HD Pentax-D FA 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW's package weighs 1.56kg whilst the lens itself weighs 953g. That would indeed put the HD Pentax-D FA 85mm f/1.4 ED SDM AW between 1.1 and 1.2kg.
Remember that the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM | Art weighs 1,130g (Sigma SA mount).
This brings the D FA* inbetween the Zeiss ZE Otus and Zeiss Milvus regarding the weight:

Over 2000 gbp means it's the most expensive lens with such focal length/max aperture combination on the market. Canon RF 85mm 1.2 is only 10% more expensive.
Not really, just the second most expensive after the Zeiss ZE Otus, which doen't even offer AF:
Produktvergleich Sigma Art 85mm 1.4, Zeiss ZE Milvus 85mm 1.4, Canon EF 85mm 1.4, Nikon AF-S 85mm 1.4, Sony FE 85mm 1.4, Pentax D FA* 85mm 1.4, Zeiss ZE Otus 85mm 1.4 - heise online Preisvergleich

I suppose this launch prize is going to drop, as it usually does in half yr. Or so. I’m going to wait untill then. (As I have to do anyway because my bankaccount is slowly getting back where it should be

Don't expect this so fast. And remember, 85mm is less asked than 50mm or even 35mm.
It took around two years until the D FA* 50mm 1.4 did drop $100:

I stand corrected. Indeed, Otus is more (significantly more) expensive, but I guess that's Zeiss' creme de la creme.

Anyway, I feel like my trusty ZK Planar 85mm will get at least few years more use.

Quo vadis, Pentax?
The launch price of the Canon RF 85mm f/1.2L USM was £2,799 (and $2,699 / €2,999).

£2,799 is one third more expensive than £2,099, not 10%.

I glanced through offers on amazon.co.uk, and it said available from 2265 GBP. However, it seems it was for a used-like new product. The cheapest brand new one is at the moment 2600 GBP. I stand corrected again.

They probably wanted to prove that they can make a very good lens and they don't want to sell it.

The price isn’t out of line with the “low production volume” we heard about earlier...

If it is a strong seller, I imagine they will eventually get the volume up, which may drop the price a bit...
Of course, the price will also drop if it doesn’t sell, but I don’t see that as good news...

I’d love to know these numbers:
  1. Components cost +
  2. Production cost +
  3. Allocated Development cost +
  4. Markup to Distributors =
  5. Ricoh Imaging Direct Cash Flow +
  6. Distributor Markup to Dealers +
  7. Dealer Markup to Public =
  8. Selling Price

It could be good news that Ricoh has returned to reality.
