New K is out! £2999

According to a post by Ricoh Pentax UK on Instagram today, the new camera is the K-AF, has three lenses in a rotating turret and these are a 15-30, a 24-70 and a 70-200; maximum aperture not stated. It’s quite pricey for a one-off purchase at just shy of 3 grand. And it has IBIS.

But of course, yesterday was the 31st of March...

Who needs a camera bag when all the lenses can be mounted at the same time?

Same. Somehow, three grand price tag for the K-new wouldn't surprise me at all...

Ricoh provided a copy for testing, and I have to say, the thunderbolt direct brain plug is pretty impressive, total immersion as if you are a mini-human walking over the surface of the Pentax prism inside the viewfinder. What's more? No memory cards required anymore (direct storage into user owned cortex memory), well worth the 2999 price tag. Unmatched by any of camera competitors

I have heard that its AI likes to be spoken to, frequently. And that if you do this nicely, and never allow its battery strength to get below 50% it is capable of over-riding stupid settings, and deliver a perfect picture every time. Even compensates for low light, moving subject, and depth of field probs for macro shooting.

the name of the AI is " HAL " formally known as HAL 9000 +

[ created at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign ]

the way you tell it is operating is the circular red light with a yellow circle at the center

Indeed, it's a TLR: a (digital) Three-Lens Reflex.

Thanx ... have not yet seen it on my FB (over)feed. Good to know it's there. Plus I saw a x-post on FB of maybe a Czech translation, I think.

With Pentax, home to a lot of camera weirdness, I always have to double-check what the date is with any new camera announcement, just to be sure.
