At least that’s what their market analysis told them

because technology changes.
"Glass is forever", but when you consider things such as AF and AW methodology, change is inevitable.

These, however, are neither of the two... they don't even have auto aperture!

I was giving reasons for modern designs.
So, there is no reason for these lenses, since we have plenty of old legacy glass which have equally archaic controls.

Many times the old lenses on ebay need to be taken apart and cleaned. Although, if a perfect sharp lens is what you want you wouldn't be looking at the legacy lenses.

I have purchased a number of vintage lenses, here, at another photo discussion site, and yes, even at eBay.
I wouldn’t purchase a dirty one, and insisted on a refund when I got one that wasn’t clean.

I think you have just demonstrated an excellent understanding of their business model...

I think that also explains how seemingly everyone and her brother is now making 50mm Leica M-mount lenses.

Still, cool to have new lenses, and I'll see if that Lydith is any good before I say too many bad things

Soap bubble Bokeh looks good. But it can be had for under 200$. Makes no sense in buying those for 900$
