Pentax K-3 II successor on September 2020

I found this on facebook, I don't know if this was already a rumor:

The Tanaka Tweet cited in the DCN article does not support the content of the article itself.

Here is what Google Translate had to say:

QuoteQuote:
The sky of the town in a quiet Shibuya. There is no person who meets it most because it chose a narrow back street and it walked round trip from Ebisu to Shibuya for Yabo. Well, the progress of K-3 II" successor model", but seems to be progressing smoothly in such a time, excited fun.

Not much of substance there. I think some of these rumors actually come from PF speculation posts. I would have expected an earlier announcement, but probably pushed back due to the current world uncertainty.

I wouldn't lend a lot of credence, the only source is the quote from Tanaka. The article is also written in a pretty weird way:

QuoteQuote:
A recent tweet from Kimio Tanaka (a Japanese photographer who has Ricoh/Pentax insider information and has a good record of reporting relevant information) indicated that the progress was made on the successor of the Pentax K-3 II camera

There is a big difference between "the progress was made" and "progress is being made" - which seems to be the meaning behind Kimio Tanaka's tweet. On the comments, the author says regarding the sensor:
QuoteQuote:
"That's right. It will probably feature 26MP (currently in latest Fuji gears) or the 32MP (EOS 90D) APS-c sensor
This, when Pentax has never sourced sensors from Canon (does anyone even source sensors from Canon?)... I wouldn't really call this an authority on the subject.

The Daily Camera News 'report' is totally speculative.

A translation of the relevant part of Kimio Tanaka's tweet:
QuoteQuote:
さてK-3 II"後継機種"の進捗は、こんなご時世だけど順調に進んでるようで、わくわく愉しみ。
was provided before:

'Currently the successor to K-3 II is making progress, it seems to be progressing smoothly, I'm excited and thrilled.'

Nowhere speaks Kimio Tanaka of September 2020 or even Q3 2020.

"Daily Camera News" - made up nonsense.
And the only fragment of information which happened to be included was already mentioned on this forum.

Isn't the 26mpix sensor Fuji uses currently an X-Trans type unit from Fuji themselves?

Same Sony sensors AFAIK, while the colour filter array is indeed different from the classic Bayer pattern it isn't strictly "part" of the sensor.

I believe the sensors are developed by Fuji and Sony is the fabricator. In any case, I seriously doubt Ricoh would share a sensor with Fuji, but it could still happen. I rather hope they don't as the Fuji's seem to not be very ISO-invariant which is a feature I like in Pentax digital cameras.

The sensor in Fujifilm X-T3, X-T30, X-Pro3, X-100V and X-T4 is an off-the-shelf Sony sensor named IMX571.

A @Serkevan pointed out, the X-Trans matrix is an array of coloured filters added in front of the sensor itself (like the Bayer filter mosaic).

The source may not be credible, but a K new around September can be considered common sense.

Sony Semiconductors has 2 "off the shelf", readily available APS-C sensors:
IMX571, a 26MP BSI sensor
IMX271, a 24MP non-BSI sensor.
