Anyway, why this thread derailed into Tamrons? Did we, as a community, reach the point where any hint about incoming new lenses triggers discussions about possible rebadged third party glass?
I'm more into "New Revamped Pentax stuff is comming" mood right now, not Tamrons

That would be almost as exciting as the $40 anniversary hot shoe cover. I know some people are fans, but I never quite understood the appeal of paying $500 for slightly better image quality than you get from cropping.

Based on recent experience, a new Pentax lens has a significant probability of being a rebadge. Personally, I don't mind that if it fills out the range more quickly.

Downgrade what? HD is not any better than Tamron's coating.
I don't believe you.

Have you owned either one of the lenses? I would like to see some measurements if HD is somehow superior as I cannot see it in actual photographs. My own findings are such that both lenses fail when the light gets tough.

They complain because Tamron doesn't make lenses in K-mount, then they complain when Pentax rebadges Tamron lenses. They just complain , complain complain. I doesn't matter what Pentax does, it isn't good enough for them.

If you want cheap lenses, there are lots of cheap bodies to put them on.

No my claim is correct.

The claim is that Pentax does first generation rebadges but not second.

Keep in mind their is a bit less than two years between when the Pentax G1 was introduced of the. 24-70 and when the Tamron G2 was introduced. So planning was probably going on for G2 products when the Pentax was introduced.
Seriously, why would anyone care?

The Tamron re-badges are either good lenses, or they are not. In my experience (15-30, 24-70, 70-210) they are good. Anything else is onanism.

Well the thread about the APS-c camera update video quickly devolved into who designed a lens argument. Sigh. Hopefully we can have separate threads so we don’t have to wade through pages of Tamron did it...no they didn’t to talk about the camera.

If a lens is good a lens is good. If its price tag is palatable you buy it, if it's not... you don't.

That would fit with 'more than one surprise'.

Once again, I don't believe you. I do not care what you claim to be your own findings. You're on a Pentax-bashing agenda.

OTOH... yes, those are different lenses and lens design does influence flare resistance:

My experience with the HD coated lenses is that I very rarely see any flaring from them ... except for the DFA 15-30, which is a monster for it with sunlight from the side. The redeeming feature is that it generally looks cool.
