Hold your horses. You're talking about rebadging the old Tamron, which is no longer in production? That doesn't make any sense.

The only option is the G2 version - $1400 MSRP, add a realistic premium (the 70-210 is $100) and you can get close or even reach the D FA's price.
Pentax rebadges the first generation of Tamron products.

At least that is what has happened with the 15-30 and the 24-70.

Some sources claim that those ware updated. I kinda doubt it, but still there is no other option for us as brand users to choose from.

The Tamron 70-210 had a release price of 800€ and the Pentax rebadge 1.5 years later came in at 1200€. So yeah... Minimum of 1800€ for a hypothetical Pentax 150-600 and I wouldn't be surprised by a 2000€ price tag.

Sorry, but that's not true.
Pentax rebadged the then-current version of Tamron lenses. Some of those were later updated by Tamron - and this is what happened with the 15-30 and 24-70.

Then, we could talk about what was updated in those 2 lenses... improved stabilization? New AF controller? Coatings?

No that is true.

Pentax hasn’t upgraded their versions.

Tamron 15-30/2.8 G2 and 24-70/2.8 G2 are optically the same as their predecessors. The updated versions have better stabilizer and compatibility with Tamron's calibration dock, none of which Pentaxians need.

Not at all. I didn't even go for the K-1ii.

Since it splits duty with the K-3 now well over 140k actuations, it will probably last me 10 years.

As technology matures, the need for "latest greatest" declines. I still prefer editing on my 10 year old 4 core i7 iMac.

With film I expected 10 years out of a camera.

I am not aware of any “source” that claims they are updated.

A “source” would be someone from Tamron or Pentax saying something. Or published patents. Maybe even an insider with demonstrated intimate knowledge like Ooku or Asahi Man. Or someone that has disassembled, x-rayed or in some other significant way done an analysis on the lenses.

Everything else is just idle speculation.

That's a different claim. The original one is about Pentax rebadging old versions of the Tamrons rather than the then current ones. The original claim is false. *

And how should Pentax update their versions? Include the Tamron's VC? Downgrade the HD coatings?

* Note. Lacking a time machine, it is impossible for Pentax to rebadge future Tamron products. So we always have to refer to what was available/current at that moment, and not years later.

Downgrade what? HD is not any better than Tamron's coating. I have owned both Tamron (V1) and Penron version of 15-30/2.8. Both flare when flare is called for (that is, shooting against the sun). Both handle side light the same way. HD is somewhat worse due to degraded near-IR performance.

No my claim is correct.

The claim is that Pentax does first generation rebadges but not second.

Keep in mind their is a bit less than two years between when the Pentax G1 was introduced of the. 24-70 and when the Tamron G2 was introduced. So planning was probably going on for G2 products when the Pentax was introduced.

That's some major grade heresy, right here :P

Anyway, why this thread derailed into Tamrons? Did we, as a community, reach the point where any hint about incoming new lenses triggers discussions about possible rebadged third party glass?
