Can you turn it around for me? Thanks...

The right answer would be 21mm f2.0, because 21*2 = 42, which is the answer to life, the universe, and everything...

Though I'm thinking way back to the original Takumar 35mm f2.0. It had a huge front element but was fairly quickly replaced with a new Takumar 35mm f2.0 with a far smaller one...
So we know very little without a diagram...

And my current theory (wild speculation) is that while they know exactly what the aperture is, they aren't telling us because they haven't decided what to call it... if the actual aperture is f2.04, do they call it 2.0 (like everyone else) or 2.1 (because Limited)?

So, 8 pages in just over 1/2 a day....that's a better score than any of the "Pentax must go mirrorless" threads I think...?

I'm buying. Looks like the strong majority of people on this thread will be also. Not only 21---an excellent FL---but DFA WR with new AF motor. Cannot beat that with a stick. Even the h8r's at DPR are fairly quiet today....

Here's one more thing: Great timing for an announcement, Pentax! Maybe somebody over there got into a marketing webinar during COVID-19 closure and learned something! Because there's few other announcements right now(although Sony is about to make a splash...) and so much cabin fever.

All I have to say is that not only is this a perfect landscape lens (WR , compact and light, and focal length), but its just excites me that Pentax will release more D-FA limiteds in the future. 21mm, 31mm, 43mm, 77mm, and 100mm macro (which is a limited in everything but name). I wonder what would be next? A 14-15mm DFA limited? A 135mm limited? A 24mm or 55mm limited? DFA limited zooms like the DA 20-40mm? I also wonder the cost. The Nikon 20mm f1.8 is 716 dollars, my guess is that this new lens will be in the grand range similar to 50 D-FA.

Let's add it has ED element, is weather resistant and has built in DC motor.
It's amazing.. a wide angle, small form K prime with weather sealing AND an autofocus motor. What is happening?

I wonder if it will be something funky like f/3.2 ?

I also wonder what edges and corners will be like...

People are always more animated when talking about something they might actually buy.

One more perk is that not we can finally get over with complains of that focusring grinding your fingertips off when you are AF with screwdrive. It just look so good too. That livesize image, Ooku posted...d@mn.

Doesn't it inspire you to buy a silver K-new to go with it?

When was the last time Pentax produced a lens with poor edges and corners? 10 years ago?

My 18-135 may have been the last one.

Eh... I'm pretty sure that focusing ring will rotate during focusing - looks connected to the distance scale (like previous Limiteds).

Speaking only for myself, I can see K-1 people really loving this sort of lens, but when I put on my APS-C shooter's hat I don't think that focal length is so useful. They split the difference between my 18mm and 25mm lens hopes; I'm left wondering what that last "maybe a 28?" lens is on the roadmap. I generally like the look of this lens, with nods to the FA Ltd's with maybe a touch of D-FA 100 WR in there as well.
The DA 21 of either SMC or HD are brilliant on APSC. I can't wait for this one for my K-1 and my KP and K-5IIs! I wish t was ready for sales now though!

How many DPI does your monitor have to be to make it life sized?

Changing the zoom on my monitor, to get the mount the same size as a physical K mount...

90mm from the lens base (not including the mount) to the top of the hood.
75mm at the widest part of the barrel, where the hood starts.
72mm at the focus ring.
68mm at the 'aperture ring'.
I also concur with the earlier measurement of 67mm for the filter size.

Bummer, not that my fingertips would ever been harmed.
