I am of the same opinion, for me it is an incredible lens, unfortunately for now I can only mount it on apsc but one day maybe I will put it on k1. And I'll have to add 43 then or maybe I'll add it first
Thanks for your comment. The reason that decided me to purchase this HD version was precisely the results I got with the 77mm Limited on my K1-II. I was impressed by the "cleanliness" of the image and the definition. One of the first surprises I got with the K1-II was using an old 300mm + the 1,4 extender: I was not prepared to see such an "improvement" in image quality with an old lens together with the extender. Until recently, I have been using a Pentax K3... but comparing the results of the K1-II the difference is from night into day!

I’d be more than happy to test this lens on both my K1 and K3iii.

I did not use it on any overly critical stuff, but so far I am pleased with its performance

I have not been following the ins and outs of things so sorry if this has been asked 900,000 times already. Does anyone have any idea when this lens might be released to the wild?

Note: Par for the course is to get spotty (if any) communication from Ricoh but hopefully someone has some insights since I haven't been following.

I don't know when that 21mm FF prime will be available. For me , if it's not sharp edge to edge, the release date doesn't matter, because I'm using the D-FA 15-30. For me, the D-FA 21 must be at least as good as the D-FA 15-30 @ 21mm.

Don't think anyone really knows. However, there is a new thread hinting the new 16-50 will be released in August. Now whether that means the 21mm will be before or after that I don't know. If you want a guess I would say late fall for the 21mm. But that is merely a guess.

Wasn't there some kind of report about this fall?

Something in the back of my mind seems to suggest that, before the winter holidays.

The last thing I remember was OokU saying "2021 should be no problem"... apart from that, not really. I guess new news after the 16-50 is out?

I know this is not the place for a long discussion but is that new 16-50 for crop sensors?

Yes. It is meant to replace the current DA*16-50 but with PLM (faster) focusing and optical improvements.
Should be awesome on the K3iii

I doubt it will be sharper than the DFA 15-30. It will be a lot smaller, have better flare resistance, and have less distortion. The DFA 15-30 is a really nice lens, but it is also huge. This is the reason I would like to have a 20-ish mm prime -- it would just make packing a lot easier.

Of all the qualities of a lens sharpness seems the least affected by going zoom. At least center sharpness. I have no statistics but recently this seems to be the case.
