Yes but then you have to pay for the assistant you need to carry the extra body with that 60-250. On union turf, probably two assistants.
I don't find it's the weight that bothers me, especially not the bodies (as a sturdy body helps to counter the lens weight), it's usually the time needed to set up a tripod to achieve the desired IQ.
I walk with a lot of heavy gear around - ATM 2 KX bodies with 6 lenses, sometimes a Rollei 6008 with 3 lenses and some backs - but only when I feel I have the time to use it. Now that's increasingly rare, and that's what bothers me most. Which keeps the Rolleiflex TLR as a choice camera.

Two bodies is ideal ( I used to work with a KX and ME with 35mm and 85mm stuck to their bodies), especially when both have IBIS (which mine don't). I'm waiting for a FF update, but that K-3 III certainly looks appealing.

The weight of large lenses does bother me.
My wife and I still go for long walks in the woods, and I carry neither heavy lenses nor a tripod.
I need nothing to 'balance' a lens - I support the weight of the lens with my left hand so my right hand supports only the weight of the body.

To my thinking, the best all round combo lenses in APS-C for most photographers would be the DA* 16-50 and the DA* 60-250. I use this combo whenever I go on a vacation and I have two bodies so I can quickly switch cameras as necessary. You could argue otherwise depending upon your needs, but I find this an excellent combo if I have to limit myself to two lenses. The use of two bodies has greatly enhanced my photo taking opportunities when out and about.
I rarely use long distance lenses and for me a K3 III + DA*16-50 will probably be enough for all round combo (expecting the crop crop mode will give the feeling of some extra zoom)

I shoot out the window with a KP all Winter at our feeders, so I make heavy use of a 55-300mm PLM plus a 1.4X TC. With a “APS-C” camera, you do get extra ‘zoom’ - until you need more.

Does anyone have any idea when they will release this lens? I hope it will be released with the K3 III - but what will be the reality.
No more information than in the roadmap. You'll have to wait until CP+ to know more.

Ricoh are aiming to release this lens in the first half of 2021. Probably some time after the K-3iii

It would be a nice kit lens, even if only for preorder K-3/3. I hope they will make it with da* release, would be nice walk around lens to replace DA 18-55. If not, then well, I still do not have 20-40 Ltd

Even the current one is a big upgrade over the 18-55...

Assuming this is a KAF4 lens, they might sell a lot to owners of cameras with “Dark Image Syndrome”.
It might be kind of expensive for owners of ‘bottom tier’ cameras, but the KAF4 interface would allow the camera bodies to still control the aperture.

Not sure how many $1000+ lenses they're going to sell to folks who are still using a camera without a functioning aperture solenoid because it costs $200 at Precision (or a <$50 DIY job) to replace.

Basically this. For roughly half the (expected?) price of a 16-50/2.8 PLM you can get a K-70 with kit lens.

Some of us would rather spend money on other things - I am using my K-30 with a FA 28-105 which I could always use with a "FF" camera should I ever get one.
If I had purchased a K-70 plus kit lens, I would have just another cheap body and lens combination {I already have a K-mount kit-lens sitting on the shelf}.
It was a thought.
We shall see how it works out.

Maybe more than you think. I bought the original DA*16-50 to use on my k-x. Not because I thought the pairing was great but because I was planning ahead. It was the logical addition to my lens bag but really would not be fully used until I bought the k-5.

If I had a k-50 with the aperture problem I might consider the 16-50 as a stop gap and future investment with the K-3III in mind a year or so down the road.
