I'm looking forward to the DA * pinhole lens, retailing for 650 dollars.

Yeah, who needs all that glass getting in the way?

I'm just a little worried about the focus speed if the keep the SDM. Maybe a pinhole with PLM is what we need.

The main advantage of PLM may be that it requires a small focus group.
Te SDM might be just as quick if it has to move so little mass.

Doesn’t PLM stand for “pinhole lens mechanism”.

Maybe the 55-300 PLM is really a pinhole, too... just with some elements up front to make us think it’s a regular lens

I saw one of those some time ago, actually! The Pinhole Pro X is the world's first zoom pinhole lens - DIY Photography
Definitely doesn't make it all the way to 300mm though...

Now if they could only make an auto-focus pinhole zoom lens!

Folks, the whole idea of being a pentaxian is to enjoy the SLR experience - you look through the lens, not at it!
Which is exactly what I'll do once I get the camera.

WOW. This is a nice update to the much SDM riddled 16-50. And redesigned optical construction.
I only wish they will get to the DA* 50-135 soon.
Better AF and better images. I hope it won't be too expensive. Maybe I can get one someday when I have the funds.

I'm hoping it's reasonable too. The current 16-50 goes for $1069.95 CAD...
