"some time" in Pentax time means years of human time

It can even take longer if you activate the "Or later" TM option

This year should be no problem.

That is good to hear. I wonder when the teaser photos and articles will start.

People here are so impatient!
You'd almost think that they have plans for photography that cannot be done until the new lens is released.

Well I for one was planning on a graduation trip to the north of Europe (Norway or Iceland) by late summer/early fall, pandemic permitting. A weather sealed UWA lens is something I might appreciate having .

Of course, I'd make do with my ol'trusty M20/4, but... I'd make do.

16-50 is great focal, but for country like Iceland and Norway, you really want also 11-18...just saying. And yes, weather sealing is a must at there, since it can rain every day

I'm not buying an APS-C camera plus the 11-18 .

I might rent the 15-30, but I like traveling light and that one's kinda not it... plus I'd probably need an adapter for the square filter holder, no?
unless I find a 15mm Irix at a good price

I'll see what this K-3III will be like. IF it is what I hope it is, my DFA 15-30 will be up for sale soon and 11-18 will be replacing it. I do still like 15-30 on my K-1...it is quite big for traveling. It does boil down at the moment when you pack your things for airplane and you don't want to put lenses at cargo. I like my DFA * 70-200,but can't really put 15-30 in same bag, as well as my laptop. and I won't be selling my 70-200, so things has to happen.

BUT I can't also afford This lens too so, have to think which one to have at first.

Would you prefer the Irix over the DA 15mm? I'm kind of on the fence, also waiting for the 16-50mm, which as an AW lens has additional functionality.

The Irix is FF, so... yes
(this was all brought about by OokU saying the DFA 21 should release this year, sorry for the offtopic!)

Sorry for going of topic, but I have Irix 15mm - great lens, but it is so HUGE that I'm not using it.

I takes to much space to fit it in my backpack.
With lens hood it is 11.4 cm in diameter! (150-450 hood diameter is 11.9cm)

For UWA I prefer 12mm Laowa (a little bit heavier, but much smaller in diameter) - also great lens. It has traveled a lot with me (some times just in my jacket pocket to the airplane). I have adapter for 95mm filters from Laowa too.

To be on topic again - I'm waiting for new 16-50.

You consider something requiring hand-focus and no weather sealing?
I think you’ll be better off watiting for Pentax - that would also give you time to save some money.

Eh? The Blackstone version is properly weather sealed. The Firefly still has 3 seals. The M20 is almost see-through in comparison (and you can't really put a filter in front because of the vignetting, either).

AF is not really needed for my UWA uses either. In two weeks in India I think I moved the M20's ring off of infinity like 3 times . The main reason for my waiting on the D FA is the expected "Limited" rendering and weather sealing in a compact package.

The Irix is less than half the money I expect the DFA to cost and it's quite a bit wider, it's just bulkier than I'd like.
