Mmm.... looks to me like a camera made for the DFA 150-450.... will work for me.... even though the last thing I need is a new camera.

Generally, if a one camera old guy with bad knees.... then I'd want a flippy screen.... but then a KP would be cheap enough to be a two camera guy with bad knees.

I never use a tilt screen! But then, I shoot with a K-3ii and sometimes a K-5iis.

I don't need some stuff. Leave it off.

I want other stuff. Make sure it is included.

I know exactly which features are important for the K-new. If my thoughts aren't followed, the camera will be an utter fail! But then, I am in my late seventies with questionable eyesight and even more questionable photo skills.

Okay. I am kidding.

But on a serious note, the features listed below seem to be the minimum for success::
  • Highest noiseless ISO
  • Fastest auto-focus
  • Highest burst rate by a factor of 2
  • tiltable/non-tiltable screen (depending on your wants and needs)
  • Brighter viewfinder with 1.5x magnification
  • More stuff, smaller body
  • 50 megapixels
  • Wi-fi, bluetooth, Sirius-XM, and Netflix
  • Many other things

Oh, did I mention – This should be a $5,000. body which I can grab for $1,200.

I'm not buying until they take off Donkey Kong and put Space Invaders on it. Maybe there will be a slot for game SD cards where the second card slot used to be.

I won't buy it unless it has a bottle opener and cork screw built-in. And a cam on the back so I can take selfies easier. They can dump the joystick and put a lens and camera there.

That’s a weak article. Too late for what? Not everything has to be the same.

I see foremost a lot of people excited by the new camera body and the new lenses being announced (did you miss the D-FA 21mm Limited ??) . And some not pleased with the lack of a flip screen (that they seemingly would use). I haven't actually seen any demise posts here, unless I missed them.
Not so much in this thread, but at an overall forum level, we certainly see them. Occasionally, they're constructive... more often, not and generally repetitive. It's those latter posts that become tiresome and trigger (most of the) back-lash

Thankfully, this thread has been mostly constructive

But complaining about the complainers makes one also a complainer..
As does complaining about them, ironically.

The thing about a tiltable screen is: You are not forced to use it. Just don't tilt it if you enjoy digging a hole before shooting macros of ants at eye-level with the viewfinder, all fine. If you don't have one, you can't use one... I think that is a more severe flaw than having one you don't use, right? And it's one of the big things that made digital photography, one of the things optical cameras just can't. My current APS-C has one. My next APS-C will have one.

Never too late for the braves.
I had a look - what a textbook example of kettle logic...

- the OVF is nice, but it doesn't keep up with eye tracking and 8k video
- AF will be improved, but the pandemic will slow it down
- here are 3 affiliated links where you could buy products and we'll make some money out of it
- Pentax releases K-mount lenses, but Sigma stopped
- it should be mirrorless. Every single d*mn camera should be a mirrorless
- more links toward Amazon. Buy! Buy! Buy!

That's the problem. Normal expression of hopes and preferences is interpreted as a single-minded attempt to "find fault", and then blamed for "negativity." There is more nuance than that. We don't all have to form little clubs of "complainers" who supposedly can't see the good in a camera and "true believers" who blow up over "it would be nice if-."

I mean, that's conversation on the internet, of course. I don't recall that folks were this jacked up about things here a decade ago but maybe that's why I take such long breaks from the "news and rumors" forums.
The problem occurs when concentrating on what the camera isn't/doesn't do/ doesn't have, without paying any thoughts to what it is/what it does/what it has.

Of course it won't be "perfect". Of course it won't align perfectly with our needs and preferences.
But, is this everything one could say about it? That it OMG doesn't have an articulated screen?
