Doesn't always completely get rid of it, mind you, but it certainly reduces it to far more acceptable levels. Some raw processing software allows you to do this in post, of course, but not all. It's a nice in-camera feature... not one a majority of people will use, admittedly, but it does have its applications
Thanks.
Just picked up the K-3ii sitting here in my test to see how long it takes the battery to drain sitting on my desk, and found the AA simulator option in the menu. Not so hard... except that it has three options! Type 1, Type 2, and an unlabeled wavy icon. No idea what those do.
So I looked it up in the manual. Type 1 says it balances resolution and moire reduction. Type 2 prioritized moire reduction. The third option brackets and takes three photos, one with Type 1, one with Type 2 and one with it off. Also, it notes that none of this works when the shutter speed is greater than 1/1000th.
So, yea, okay, I'm probably never going to use this.

Page two of the in-depth review notes that the AA simulator is one of the functions under "Advanced Sensor Functions." And that it's unique to Pentax. I guess that might have grabbed somebody's attention.
