Quality never comes cheap.

When Pentax asked their Japanese customer base (largest by a long way) what their priorities were, the answer was was star quality primes. We had the 50, now the 85. I think Pentax is doing the right thing by giving the customers what they want.

So price wise we have it retailing;

- UK, £1999
- Europe, 1999EURO
- US, $1899, but apparently that was a mistake and it's $1999 now?

Oof...

Wonder what it will go for here in Oz.

I'm holding out for the K-new and DFA 85mm bundle, I'm sure the Black Friday deal will make it affordable.

Seriously, I am sure it's going to be a high quality lens, and good on Ricoh/Pentax for putting out what looks to be a real attention getter, I hope they sell enough to encourage more new lenses.

As for the rest of us, if you haven't tried the FA 77mm, it is an incredible lens, for people whose style it suits.
Gently used copies often show up on the PF market place at very good prices.

Buying direct form the Pentax online store I can get 5% (100€) off by using the bonus points thing (don't know how you call it in english). This works if you can spread your purchases over different orders. That means on my next order, I get 100 € off. Today I had 666 points (6,66€) left from my last purchase (accessories for my WG6)

That's how I did it with the K-1 when it came out. I bought the 24-70 and 15-30 in a second and third order and used the points for discounts. It even works if the lens is already discounted.

Don't know whether that works in other countries as well.
