I could believe that! Since I recently shipped 192 Pounds of shirts to Japan from here in Maine and it cost over 1700 USD for Air.
What?! Geesh, had no idea.

Almost completely unrelated I rec'd a TC yesterday on DHL from a Japanese seller who just shipped it Wednesday (to Florida). Unbelievably fast, and $20 for the shipping.

From Japan via EMS is usually fast and cheaper. My order was also bulky as in nine (9) 21x16x15 inch boxes as well as being shipped early in the Covid 19 days when pretty much all air traffic was slowing or stopped. I was not going to name the company but it was the same as yours. Bulk matters also and insurance was for an amount a bit in excess of your TC!

The thing with DHL is that "regular" post is very affordable and arrives nicely, but the moment you need international insurance it locks you into the Express service and it's more than ten times the price.

Source: shipped a small lab sample (less than 200 g in one of these bubble-wrap-lined envelopes) via non-express package post Germany to USA for 7, arrived in 4 days. Shipping it with express + insurance would have been 80 and was only guaranteed to arrive in 3 days.

In order to prevent an inadvertent (!) click on the "buy" button for the new DFA85 I've purchased an FA*85 1.4 instead. Settled it.

Now, buy the D FA* so you could properly compare the two
