Hey, *dropping F-1N into focus with thee old 85 1.8 SSC.* I'd be like ...hey, you who complain about focus hunting in dim conditions.

Can *you* focus in dim conditions without hunting?

I think my K20 has more computing power than all the computers in the house. Gimme a screen for this, Pentax, and we're good.

Hey, I may not personally be big marketshare, but I got *clout,* baby.* People with a lot more money than me ask me what camera they should buy.

if market share meant everything pentax would have died in the 80's. hell they might have went under in the 60's when nikon became the de facto 'Pro' SLR.

your logic is flawed. besides Nikon always had a bit of help being a part of the Mitsubishi Group.

Ok... Have you been reading? By what logic is an old Canon FD shooter who never even bought an *AF* SLR until last November, defending Pentax as being the practical solution for her students right now... some intricate scheme of Canon marketing to tell people to...Learn to focus if you think AF speed makes you studly?

Only on the Internet.

they don't have to, they are backed up by an army of scanners, printers, ink cartridges, copiers & fax machines. and of course the really heavy artillery, the 'all-in-ones'.

Well, that's the thing for *Canon* right now: their *numbers* are so big that they don't need to make cameras for *photographers.* Just marketshare and Internet buzz. Not to say they don't make some nice products, but they're also *yoked* to that 'big marketshare' and as a result, aren't even really *making what I want.* What I want out of a DSLR is for them an afterthought on a bigger ticket item than I can afford.

People whine about what makes a 'pro.'

Being a 'pro' means making money.

I can't make money on their present gear, even as a sideline.

neither can all the canon fanboys who sing its praises while using a 40D and the plastic fantastic 50mm 1.8. and I completely agree with your point of view.

do you see the difference between not dying and being on top (market-wise) ? Canon was not interested to keep few people if that means not being able to compete for the #1 slot...

The thing about being "King of the Hill" is that eventually, someone knocks the King off unless his name is Elvis or Jimmie Morrison.

And, on this, what the *Hel* are you talking about, there, son.

Whoever 'you' are.

'Clout' in this sense, refers to me, and people much like me, ...many of us here. We meet people in person. People who want to *learn* photography, rather than have the studliest machine claim it's doing it *for* them. Pentax makes a camera, as they once did, that a responsible teacher can tell a student to go out and buy, .. they'll sell. Not having to *make* this produce millions of units and fit into big expensive ad campaigns can *enable this o happen.*

I don't wanna be telling students they can't afford a damn shutter speed dial. That's silly.

Rather teach film, for that and other reasons. But that won't help Pentax or Canon any.

I absolutely do. but as I said it doesn't mean everything. analyze your own statement and you might see what I am getting at regarding canon vs pentax. and canons way of doing things speaks volumes about itself. FD anyone?
