Sony 12MP Cmos would be logical choice IMO (but this IS speculation)
What about the Fujifilm SuperCCD SR II... In A K300D if so I will buy ONE
23.0 x 15.5 mm
2 photodiodes per photosite (one S and one R)
RGB color filter array
14 bit A/D converter
Effective pixels 12.34 million

as far as I know Canon aren't silicon chip manufacturers.

but going on the term 'designing' Pentax is as shown with the K20D, more than capable, regardless of who manufacturers the silicon.
Canon manufactures the CMOS sensors. Buys the CCD's (for compacts) from Sony.. This will change:
According to news agency Reuters, Canon will invest about 55 billion yen ($451 million)
to build a new factory in Japan to double its production capacity of image sensors used in digital cameras. The interesting part is that Canon will also use the new CMOS units in compact cameras. So far, the only Canon cameras benefiting from the complementary metal oxide semiconductors (CMOS) have been the DSLR ones.

Nikon supplies the steppers to Sony for production BTW (According to Thom Hogan).

The PowerShot SX1 uses a CMOS sensor. It is the second modern compact camera which uses a CMOS sensor; the first one having been made by Kodak.

Technical Specifications - EXILIM High Speed EX-F1 - EXILIM High Speed - EXILIM Digital Cameras - Products - CASIO

And a whole lot of other cameras launched by Casio wih CMOS sensors but this is actually one year old and announced after Kodak and way before Canon (jan 08 vs sept 08).

Let's just hope they don't put the 14.2MP CCD sensor from the Sony A350 in the K300d.... noise from ISO 400

Why would they want to do that?

The Sony 14 MP CCD is probably cheaper to manufacture & sell. Cutting costs, perhaps?

There is enough war in the world. Let's have a bit of peace in the forum, please.

PMs sent to the relevant parties.

And if you provide another language as a reply to the thread, remember to include translation (this is not in response to the thread above)

Stephen Frye knows the question but is sworn to take it to his death bed.

I know the question, too, but I was taught not to swear.

A New LX would be nice

To start investing into Pentax's higher end lens I would like to know if they are ever planning on launching a true professional body like they did with the old LX. Although the K20D is great they need a few tune up to a body like the Canon 5D. Faster shutter speeds, indestructible body, Full frame processor, and better managment for external lighting controls. Try shooting in a poorly lit hall with the Pentax K10D or K20D then try a Canon 5D. Big difference in processing speed. Don't get me wrong. I am, and always have been, a loyal Pentax fan but what does the future hold????

I hope they won't make a "5D". That camera, as good as it is, it's obsolete.
Be patient, I think the future is not that far out (no, I'm not saying Pentax will launch a FF camera at PMA; stop dreaming! )
