Cos' we don't need those stands, using stand-alone monopodes or low extended tripods.

Just bought the TD1 from Amazon, preordered the weight bag from B&H. I'll get the monopod Monday, so will post some pix. Also got another 3rd party accessory, so will include that.

I think the thing is pricey, to be honest, and I already have 2 monopods....but they are much bigger (they'll both handle my Z---one will go to work and stay there). This one is obviously tailor made for the Thetas, so....professional expense.

Point well taken! I am looking into a light-stand or maybe a monopod/stand at around $40-50 CAD that should work for my non-professional enthusiast hobby

Yeah, lightstands will definitely work. I have a little Manfrotto I've had for years that could work. They don't make it anymore, but it's a bit like the Nano, although the legs are less long---and so I like mine better.

One reason I am going with this is the ability of the Theta to eliminate the feet from the images. So, will give a very clean image for my work. Also, we'll be able to use it to maybe get images inside of things, as in hollow sculptures.

Or above a tree line for vaster vistas! Yes I want a good monopod for the added vantage points for sure.

It's nice having it built in, but I'm most likely going to be going in to edit the photos anyway (reason I wanted a Z1 for the .DNGs)
Content-aware fill in photoshop can remove those legs in like three clicks.
If you're doing it for work and you got to make those same three clicks 100 times, then obviously the feature is kick-ass though

I'd be interested to look at crops showing that the TD1 doesn't show any clue of its presence at all

From all the tales of woe I've seen of real-estate agents with broken Theta cameras, the weights for the stands are important.
