When it really matters I shoot tripod. However I prefer and like the results better when I photograph without tripod. You can concentrate more on the image and less on the hassle. With slow wides such as the da15 I have to say I've bumped against the slow aperture quite a few times. Interiors or evenings are the main culprit. These new wides are amazing wide open, the new sony 20 f1.8 for instance, This actually opens up a whole new way of shooting. If the lens is sharp and fast there's actually a lot of situations where it would be useful for me. My samyang 24 is not good enough at f1.4 so the extra weight is wasted on the fast aperture. So if weight/size/performance is good enough fast aperture would be useful. I'ts only very recently lenses have started to achieve this.
