I've got the SMC Takumar 2.5/135mm, 2nd version identical to the K, but it does require precise focus - as I found out to my detriment, while it weighed heavy! Beautiful piece of hardware, though. And with the switch on manual, you don't need the green button.
Still don't use it too often. The 2/85mm is nicely portable...

Anything faster than f2.8 in focal lengths over 100mm is not going to be a light weight item. Take into the design additional corrective elements needed to be a proper ff digital lens, along with the af motor, et al, would push the size and price up to a very specialized item.

Case in point, the legendary Olympus 150/2 lens, which is made for the smaller Four-Thirds system, weighs 1.6 kg. That's just about as heavy as the Pentax D FA* 70-200/2.8.

Hah, I didn't know about that lens. It's significantly heavier than the Sony 135/1.8, which is full frame . Or than any old-time 135/1.8 for that matter - the Porst 135/1.8 manual focus lens is about 800 g.

You’re not alone. Lots of interest in the ultra-wide.

I hope to see smaller, still quite fast (f1.8 or 2.0) and WR primes 35 50 85 or around this numbers. Silent AF I take for granted in all future lenses. Current FF* lenses (50 and 85) are great, but heavy and expensive.

It gets a bit complicated for Pentax due to the limiteds and the FA lenses. They end up with four series of primes with rather minor differences. The FA lenses are not terrible but I agree they should probably cancel them and launch a new dfa series of primes. With the pace and priorities of Ricoh the timeframe looks daunting. They have at least a few fast wide angles to release first.

Everyone seems to be doing platform based lenses these days re using the barrels and other parts across the series (Tamron, Leica, Panasonic ). Pentax should do a rush a dump 24,35,50,85 on us in one go!

I do not mind the cooperation with third party lens producer in this matter (maybe Tamron).

Does anyone have a lead on when the FA 21 limited and the da* 16-50 will be released?

No lead but those lenses will be very important for Pentax. The price performance ratio is pretty much pushed down by the competition. The star lens price performance is well established. The new limited lens (line?) more of an unknown. I'm very curious how they will make it work now that the cheap chinese competition has same or better build. Metal build is no longer unique.

The DA* they expected next year I think. They had hopes to release the knew before the DA* lens. I don't think anything has been mentioned about the DFA21LTD. I'm hoping tomorrow

We can always speculate. They said that they would like to have it ready along with the K3III, but that it would be hard. Now that the K3III has been delayed maybe it will happen? Anyway, I think we can hope for first half next year.
I would expect the 21 Limited also sometime next year......

That would be a quick way of getting some decent, moderately priced ff primes in to the mix.

In May they said '2021' for the HD Pentax-D FA 21mm ED Limited DC WR and 'first half of 2021' for the HD Pentax-DA 16-50mm f/2.8 ED PLM AW.

As usual, you might consider taking these targets with a grain of 'or later'.

But there is also the possibility of no, or little help from Tamron now - just saw this
