caught wind of upcoming storage usage and wanting to implement in K-New.
Canon EOS-1D X III announced Oct 24, 2019...
Nikon D6 announced Feb 12 2020...
Both have CFexpress slots.
I don't think is the case.
My bet is it'll still have dual SD card. But really hope for at least one UHS-II

I like this. I don’t think one should underestimate the share of the market that will appreciate this approach. Those who don’t really need an advanced camera now have cellphone cameras anyway, so what’s left are the enthusiasts and the pros.

I like this Video and statement. I like it, because Pentax want not to change to the value Brands. And you have to think about People who can not use the EVF. They have Problems with their eyes or classes. And some People don't want to change to the "new world".
Other brands go on with EVF and with new optics and so on. We can use our old great lenses all the times.

I like this Statement, because they want to say that life goes on. Goes on like before. And this is a great word in this times.

In these times they can't make a party for the new camera. So the marketing have to use the way of the videopuplishing. That's Ok.
Be interrest about the new camera!

To me the main purpose of the video is to tell the world that the Pentax brand still exists, it has a sense of vision, and new products are in the pipeline. After Olympus, the epitaph writers were getting twitchy, and this helps to keep their quills dry. Seeing the Spotmatic in the video makes me wish that Ricoh would come out with a relatively cheap film body that would boost the brand's visibility.

I say pretty nice video.

But nothing they have not said before. They are all in for OVF. I think one of the main messages was, "do not expect mirrorless FF from us." I am one of those people that is hoping for a mirrorless MF, but I doubt it is coming. Going all in for OVF is in some ways a gamble for sure. Time will tell if that was the right strategy. It is just that EVF has improved steadily for the last few years, and it is such a natural progression going from cellphone camera to mirrorless, as they even admitted. I would love to ask them if they would consider a DSLR model without rear LCD panel. / LV. It should be right up their alley.

Nikon D6 does not have SD cards:
CFexpress (Type B)
XQD Type Memory
Can take two of either.

While I am quite happy with my K-1 I would like to see Pentax offer a mirrorless option.

After all, if I remember correctly the main reason Pentax are such a small player in the market these days is due to the fact they dismissed digital as a passing fad that would never overtake traditional film in the world of photography and refused to embrace the technology until it was nearly too late.

Deja-vu anyone?
What? Nope. They went ahead and got burnt very badly. Contax died from it.

Maybe you haven't seen that many posts then. I have been getting many more keepers since I started using live view for manual focussing on the K-1.
You've piqued my curiosity now, so I'll do a search. But I check these forums multiple times a day, so....it's not like I'm oblivious. And I do own the K1(upgraded).

It makes sense for them to communicate this as clearly as possible. Should put a stop to all the mirrorless talk. (One can dream...)

Will be interesting to see what all this means for their future products. Actually making these intangibles into great gear isnt easy. Neither is communicating these qualities to consumers.

Good news!

Personally, I'm delighted by everything I hear here. Especially lighter weight, rugged camera bodies!

A mirrorless Pentax is of no interest to me. I need the pleasure of looking at an optical VF image to motivate my photography. An EVF, even a good one, reminds me of a target acquisition device. It does the job, but there's no beauty to it. Using my Fuji XE-2, often I would see something appealing, check it out though the EVF and think, "That's not beautiful after all." So no photo.

What I need is a VF image that helps me fall in love with what I'm seeing. An OVF is much more likely to do that for me, so it makes me a better photographer.

What I take from it is that it shows Ricoh are committed to Pentax future. There was an article in amateur photographer about Olympus in which the writer dismissively described Pentax as existing in name only (they got a nasty letter for that one). This suggests that Pentax will continue and do so in its own way. I have no problem with it making cameras that people enjoy using. That is what endears me to Fuji! Canon, Nikon and Lumix are brilliant at their job but I would not get excited at USING one like I do with my quirky (and unpopular outside pentaxians) KP and my low tech but thoroughly enjoyable Fuji X-E1. Canon, Nikon, Sony and lumix have the high volume camera tools market cornered. Ricoh look like they are targeting a nice comfortable niche in which they can operate sensibly, without over stretching themselves. If it means we only get a lens a year and a body every three or four I, for one, am fine with that. Just so long as Pentax doesn't join the ranks of former camera brands

Ricoh/Pentax must have sensed that there has been some good online presence for the brand recently that maybe coincided with good sells? Now they are attempting to be more reaching towards the online crowd?

Sounds like in some ways, they are taking the Leica road. Not a bad idea. But they will need to up their customer service game.

A point in the presentation that struck a note with me; the evaluation of cost of ownership over life versus simply the initial purchase. Other than issues related to my stupidity (and a warranty repair with my MZ-S), I've never had to have my Pentax cameras in for repair. The same story isn't true for my hobbyist friends with their N & C brands as there always seems camera bodies either going for repair or being expected back. Once even with the explanation the required repair wasn't cost-justified on a two-year-old body.
