My impression from the video is "about the same", so 24-26ish.
I thought they said that they made sure it has very high image resolution and performance. I don’t read that as ‘about the same’. There is basically nothing what will be ‘about the same- in this camera compared to anything done before, atleast by Pentax. As they said, it is the most advanced APS-C flagship. There is propably several reasons why they had a K-P in straight comparison. This new one should leave that clearly behind in almost everything.

About that fixed screen. They wanted to keep the spirit of K-3 and precessors. And they wanted to minimise the size at the same as well as giving it better ergonomics. It should be clear by now

I was referring to the Pentax video about the new camera and lenses not the cameras video capability.

I believe they said it had better image quality but that the sensor resolution was "about the same".

I would hope so. I think the KP belonged to the photographer.

That could be so. High quality sounds good too besides 24 should be more than enough for crop camera.

The reference was to what was said in the video. But your question is a fair one. I am like many others who neither need nor want video capabilities in my DSLR . I have never used the video on mine (except when it got turned on by accident). But there are some for whom it seems to be a very important feature.

If (as managers of Ricoh said) K-new is the most advanced APS-C DSLR at the market of 2020 year, it must have the same or better specs than D500, for example.
7DII is too old already (2014). D500 is 2016 year launched.

I'm looking forward to compare....

The key specs of D500
Articulated LCD Touch sensitive
Screen size 3.2″
Screen dots 2,359,000
Max shutter speed 1/8000 sec
USB 3.0
Viewfinder coverage 100%
Viewfinder magnification 1×
Continuous drive 10.0 fps
Video 4K (UHD) 30p/25p/24p, 1080/60p/50p/30p/25p/24p, 720/60p/50p
Battery Life (CIPA) 1240
Auto focus 153 point AF module with 99 cross-type points (-4EV for the center point)
Buffer depths - 200 lossless compressed 14-bit Raw

I want to know specs of K-new....very much. We can see now that no articulated LCD in K-new...But it has better OVF than D500.
As for me tilting screen is not problem, but it could help in various situations. Better to have than not to have.

The price refers to the launch price of the same level model:
D500 2000$
7D2 1799$
XH1 1900$
7DII is very old to compare....2014 year. Why don't to compare with K-3II?
D500 is 1500 USD now. 2000 USD is more than K-1II price.

Level, regardless of the release time.
K-NEW is the most advanced APS-C flagship.
K-1 II only mid-class FF.

What do you mean "advanced"? Does it have better specs than D500 (2016 year)? Or just better specs of K-1 or K-3II? Try to understand what we wait for...

I don't think we can say that the K-new is the most advanced APS-C flagship. However, as the interview explains it will have a significant improvement over and above the current Pentax DSLRs. Maybe it won't be as good as the D500. To me hitting the D500 level is a different level. I believe the K-new is in the D7500 level. An advanced enthusiast camera.

But they were talking about everything except specs. It was the grip, the tactility of switches, the viewfinder, the feedback and sound of the mirror - concepts completely alien to those who have never picked up a recent high end Pentax. Not how many fps, not now many af points, not can I do 4k video. Different universe altogether - we know it will do fantastic stills, no doubting that, we know it will hold onto iq as you go up through the ISO range, we can guess that it will feel amazing in hand and through the ovf purely by the reverence that the interviewer was showing the prototype. All good so far.
That is how they should do that.
Talking right now about specs is dead end. There will always be a camera that has better specs for something.
There will be time to talk about specs when that camera is going to be released.

I've looked at the comments about Pentax on Photography sites. They are mostly positive right now, so the videos are working.

Maybe my memory is bad but I don’t remember an external SR button since the K10D. What’s the purpose of adding a button (unless to tuen off SR with improved video)?
An external sr button would have a limited use, say when you put your camera on a tripod but don't want to go into menus, but it would be better if it was another programmable button where turning off sr was an option. Re. Flippy screens, maybe they feel the WiFi/mobile phone option supplants the need. I use my flip screen occasionally and it is nice to have, but deal breaker? For me, nah!
