I think it would have been nearly impossible to fit a bigger screen into the body without making the body larger. On the K-new it looks like it is flush with the edge on the left side, just a mm between it and the bottom plate, on the right are the thumb grip and controls and on top the new sensor had to be squeezed in between screen and viewfinder.
Is the "bezel" just an overlap of protective glass or does it translate to some display electronic parts on the back of the screen? On previous cameras it seems to look like on the K-new, but additionally hidden under some plastic/body parts, especially for all the movable screen ones, except for the K-1 where the "plastic" bezel itself around the screen looks very thin, but there is the same part of the screen that seems to not display anything like on the K-new?
From a design standpoint I think this may be the screen that was most beautifully embedded into the body (which may or may not make possible repair more difficult?)
