2020 Pentax Forums T-shirt Contest!

It's that time again, and long overdue- our annual T-shirt contest is back for a 2020 edition!

For inspiration, you may view prior designs on our Teespring store.

Theme: incorporate the PF logo (download here) in a camera, lens, and/or photography-themed T-shirt. Let your imagination rule!

We can print shirts in multiple colors. You may therefore submit light and dark variations of your design if you wish to support both types of material.

Deadline: September 23rd 30th 2020, by the end of the day your time

To enter: post each submission in a reply to this thread, as an attachment (be prepared to e-mail a high-res version if you're a winner)

You can choose to enter as many designs as you'd like.

Prizes: Each winner will each receive two free shirts shipped to their door, plus a Site Supporter forum account upgrade

Requirements and restrictions:
  • Important! Your design can't have more than 10 colors (preferably 4 colors or fewer), so avoid the use of photos
  • Unedited photos can NOT be printed - you must either vectorize the image or reduce the number colors
  • Only the central area on the front of the shirt will be printable. We can't print on the sides, above the neckline, or on the sleeves
  • Your design must include the Pentax Forums logo. You may alter the colors or make minor changes / additions
  • You may use specific Pentax product names and product logos (i.e. K-1, K-3, etc), and traces of official product photos, or any product photo found on PF's homepage
  • You may not use any other photo or work subject to copyright, without permission
  • You may not use the official Pentax logo font (type out Pentax instead)
Once we're closed to submissions, we'll have members vote to select the winning designs. We plan to pick three winners, but may opt for more if there are many exceptional designs.

I'm excited to see what you guys will come up with, and I'm sure many other forum members are, too. Good luck!

This year, we will continue T-shirt production through Teespring. With two different fulfillment locations, simple storefronts, and prints every 3 days, shipping is cheaper and faster than it's ever been before.

To get you started, here are four top designs from the past 3 contests:

T-Shirt Contest Time!

Ah! The time of my annual rejection.

This is my annual Charlie Brown kicking the football moment; my "Eddie the Eagle" soaring for England (if I were English) moment; it's my annual "bro-time" with good old Don Quixote when we go off to tilt at windmills together.

I design and design and design. I enter and enter and enter. And lo, I buy t-shirts created by others.

Of course I realize that regardless of the final results, my designs are the most creative and attractive. After all, I am a photographer. And just like all photographers, I understand that the judging is flawed when the ribbon isn't pinned on my work.

When the flawed process of voters not having my particular sense of taste or style is complete, and all the votes are counted, I will, again, buy t-shirts designed by others. And I will wear them with great pleasure and pride.

Someday my design may be a winner. But do I care? Not really. I enjoy the challenge and the opportunity to try and be a little creative. And I take great delight in seeing all of the designs created by others.

Good luck everyone! I look forward to your creativity.

Don

The DSLR Who Loved me. (or, The OVF Who Loved Me, or The Forum Who Loved Me). DSLRs are Forever. Casino Ricoh. On Her Majesty's Scenery Service. Dr. YES! From Japan With Love. (or From Ricoh with Love). Shutterfinger (or PEFfinger). Live And Let DNG. MoonTaker. Pentaforum. (The other thing just sounds wrong on so many levels). A View To A Thrill (or A View To A Frame, or A View To A Print). GoldenIris. Pentax Never Dies. Dye Sublimation Another Day. Apertre [sic] (or Spectrm [sic]). Forum of Solace. Never Say N_k_n Again. (Okay, Maybe not that last one).

I'm withdrawing V1 in favor of V2

In keeping with the times.....

Notes:

1. This can be done in several colors of both t-shirt or actual picture, showing a black t-shirt with the official logo color here for contrast purposes
2. Can incorporate an actual Pentax camera silhouette instead of a generic camera, but it could get too busy and may distract from the main message
3. Can add a tagline below the camera; something like "Get well, little planet" - Pentaxians

These might be more salable if they had an English translation in smaller lighter gray lettering.

Thank you for commenting!
IMHO, cyrillic lettering has some interesting look for non russian speakers. Of course, colors could be improved.
