Humorously, when I saw the link to your post, it displayed as "There's going to be a J limited..."

Of course, my mind jumped immediately to the FA-J lenses, and I was really confused...

A plastic-mount, low-cost, zoom Limited?

This makes a lot more sense...

They're a third party company that was responsible for this modification to the KP:

The J Limited was a special edition of the KP camera with a redesigned prism housing and grip.

To be honest, I like the original KP than the J. I like the look of a retro camera. I held one with the large grip and, it's not that bad to hold. I would even think that a large grip and a battery grip would give a good balance. Still, holding a K-5II and a K-3II is much much better.

Honestly, I use mine with the smallest grip - more like the “Super Program” that I purchased in 1983.
I have no trouble at all with “balance” - I hold the body with my right hand and the ‘77-420 PLM’ with my left hand, just as I learned to do fifty years ago.

I'm interested in what body that is in the photo. Not a KP, K-1ii, or K-70.

While I did like the J Limited mods to the KP, I really do wish they'd drop '1%er' elitism. It's limited, only a few people will possess it, we get it.
Are they not aware of the negative connotation '1%er' has, at least here in the USA? Or is this yet another example of Japan emulating
the USA of the past, in this case 1980's USA when obscene wealth was celebrated on every front?

1%er refers to motorcycle gangs like Hells Angels... They self identified as 1%ers after the main US motorcycle organisation published a statement that motorcyclists are good people except the 1% causing trouble. This has since expanded into custom culture (as in custom bikes and cars) and partially lost it's meaning. At least in Japan it seems. So my guess it now stands for custom mods with a tinge of rebel and connotations to custom bike culture.

edit: Could be a joke about Pentax market share

I know “plastic” is used around here as a synonym for “cheap”, but that is really not true. When I was a Canon user, I had several lenses with plastic mounts that lasted ten years; for most lenses that is plenty long, considering how technology changes and we replace them in any case.

When I held it, that's exactly what it felt like. Like my Canon AE-1 or my Nikon F-2 without the winders or drive. I didn't complain much about the size during my film years. I guess older people like us wouldn't be also comfortable with EVF. Now I'm admitting I'm old. How can this be?
