Rationally I would like to think about a new FF (after all it is well known that the FF and 645 lines will continue) rather than the video,

I don't know you and the other Pentaxians, how many videos have you made with Pentax, if I had to make videos I certainly wouldn't watch in Pentax house (if not at amateur level),
so it seems a bit unlikely.

Have you seen what Canon did? When cornered by Sony and the other sisters, accelerated the projects that had in the pipeline two machines that rightly or wrongly were praised and even criticized,
but the professionals remain on Canon's side. We make do with these rumors, which at least keep us awake and more motivated....

Maybe it's a KP II or K-90? That's if this rumor is actually true.

A second new dslr? Improved video functions?

Ricoh is rumored to be working on another Pentax APS-C DSLR camera - Pentax Rumors
It only makes sense if you look at the recent history. In the six years from 2013 through 2018 eight new DSLRs (six APS-C and two full frame) cameras were produced. You could add one more if you want to include the 645z. Each time they have created a new flagship with new features, some of those features have been used in other new cameras shortly after along with some other improvements. One way to get more return on your investments is to use them in multiple products, and attract different customers, look at the numbers of K-5s, K-30s, and K-50s that were sold, if it had only been the K-5, a lot of sales would have been lost. The covid situation may have an effect, but I certainly expect a couple of new cameras in the next year, probably one full frame.

the k-1 sensor is now two generations behind what sony is offering in ff, and 645 is a generation behind what fuji are offering in mf. no doubt they are working on some killer cameras, but two aspc releases close together? don't think so. can't wait, i'm sure they're going to be good.

I don't really trust rumors unless it's a leak from Ricoh. But if it's true, I hope it's a KPII. I hope this model continues and will maintain its retro look.

Unless those users have LEGO hands.

This makes sense, and I have been half-expecting it. Drip-feeding information about the APS-C flagship and keeping completely quiet about a lower level release also makes sense, to make a splash. The KP is nearly 4yo now, and the K-70 is 6 months older; either or both would no-doubt benefit from a refresh based on some of the improved tech from the K-new. This would also go a long way to appeasing the potential buyers not happy about the lack of an articulating screen on the K-new, and makes that choice more understandable. I suspect an accompanying FF update is some time off though, or else those stumping up for the new K-1II Silver may feel aggrieved.

Let's look at the history of ILC camera announcements from Pentax since 2010 (ignoring Q and 645 for the moment). It is not unusual for different-rung cameras to be released in close proximity, sporting the same generation of tech but different feature levels.

imo, it's too bad that 2019 wasn't met with more than a hotshoe cover.

I didn't say that because I didn't want to ruffle the feathers of those who don't think it is important. Since having the KP, I don't think I could buy a new camera without it, I really like to shoot from low vantage points. And video is certainly a big need for some people, as stated in another new post today.

Indeed, one remembers very vain things, not to say useless, and Pentax would have deserved more respect, but fortunately we are the ones who remember it.

Maybe the K-new's development started late that they weren't able to complete it last year. Maybe Ricoh didn't care much about Pentax's anniversary as long as they can keep the brand alive.

But yes, the celebration for the 100th anniversary wasn't that great at all.

The K-70, K-1 II and 645z are all do for sequels.

As to the video piece, my guess is that it will have to be at least a little better than existing cameras, it would be surprising if that weren't true. At the same time, I think it unlikely that Ricoh shifts their focus to video as a main point of concern.
