Dumb name but it's not shocking; how many cameras has Ricoh called "GR"?

Sort of hard to know what else to compare this to right now and we're probably not smart to try to make too many comparisons.
What's so shocking about the name as a matter of fact in one of the recent threads someone said K-3 Mk3.

As far as comparisons.....comparisons by everyone will be rolling in!

" Depth of Field Bracketing" - ooh yessss!
Higher ISO sensitivity - tick
Better autofocus - live in high hopes
Flippy screen - sad face
Anything else - a bonus

Birthday present to moi - definitely

(Now to get act together and sell some stuff)

No mention of the bit or subsampling rate of the video recording. These things are important if you're including video at all and without them it's probably unusable junk.

I'm very excited about the AF performance and the image quality. I'm glad I was never swayed to leave Pentax. If they keep the K-mount and the DSLR system alive I'd say, I'm really home.

Looks interesting. I'd have traded the touchscreen for a pivoting one. And could kind of care less about 4K, but others will find it interesting that Pentax is now in the video game.

The DOF bracketing sounds interesting, and agree, in theory the focus looks potentially a lot improved. Guess we'll see. I'd like to have eye rather than face detect on focus.

Japanese prices are usually higher than US and Europe but upper 200k yen(9.46 in video)...I take as 270k ish yen which is almost 2600U$D

Thats a steep price but they always come down.

Price speculation here (by members not in that demographic) has been in that territory for a while. What's the issue?

At the base level which is what I expected. Every other camera comes out with at least 24/30 @ 4K.Many will say about time, others will say i wont use it.

Pentax without K-attack, it is crazy.

The line to follow could be that of 28-105, silent and fast autofocus, maximum performance and excellent quality, if they also improve the brightness would be much better.

The KP already has DOF bracketing, Steve.

But if it's good they might, I've bought many items with features that I had no intention of using, and then ended up using those features. The bad items are where the feature you use most is a paperweight, unfortunately I've bought a few. And of course someone out there will buy this camera and use it as a paperweight (or closet filler), that the one I want to buy second hand!
