I know someone who is really enthusiastic but only has a really old pentax DSLR, I can't remember if it is a K10d, if I get the K70, it will probably go there. As for the lens, as it will go to an existing pentaxian, you're probably morally OK to trade it in for something you would use. I think, if I won the lens, and the odds once again are against it, I would probably keep it, for a while at least just to play with something I would never have the money to buy. I absolutely love small limited lenses on my KP and like you I wouldn't really want any form of bazooka
I'm thinking it will be hilarious if one of the humble workhorses just happens to take the picture that gets the win... that might even kill the GAS of some of us

That said, there are so many lenses with distinct renderings that I wouldn't be surprised if one of obvious favourites wins.

With the K-70 raffle now closed, I will announce the winners tomorrow!

Based on how well this giveaway went, I'm thinking maybe we should squeeze in another before Christmas. Maybe for an even nicer camera or lens?
Yes!!!

As many giveaways as it takes for me to win.

In all seriousness, this giveaway got me breaking out of my newbie shell quicker than I normally would. Not that I'm shy, just didn't have much to contribute until motivated properly to work that grey matter between my ears.

This issue came up last year when Adam gave away a KP - and I already have one.
Yes, I probably could find a use for a T-shirt - even though I had to find room when I purchased a new one here last month - but I had to consider the possibility I might win the 'big' prize, and decided that I should just stay out of the whole thing and leave it for those who could actually make use of it. Right now, my KP is my primary camera, and I use my Q-7 and K-30 on occasion, and I choose to consider that even though I had enough posts that I could have entered almost every day last month. I looked at the give-a-way thread almost every day, and I am glad that you guys had so much fun {and these days Pentax says that having fun is their main goal}.

Thank you for running {and pay for} yet another give-away.

I did notice an increase in activity - for example, hardly any image reached page 3 of PYP! without collecting any comments and without being seen at least 100 times.

added: this may be just a coincidence, but the place seems "dead" today; maybe everyone is exhausted.

I'm going through my folder of edited photos and I came to a couple conclusions:

-The D FA 28-105 is a serious nomination contender just because I know I can trust it to get the job done and because of the sheer number of keepers it got me. The M20/4 is a close second.
-I really need to get out more and use the 77. Consistently loving the photos, but I haven't really had a lot of photo opportunities for her lately...
-My third parties (Tamron 90/2.4 and Tokina 70-210/4.5) make up an uncomfortably high amount of keepers and I really like them, but I'd feel bad nominating non-Pentax lenses. Oops.

I'm gonna have to go out and tie break this...

yeah,

I seem to remember someone getting a KP last year based on random luck, not merit

[ it ended up with my son and his wife in Omaha ]

The 77 may create pictures you love, but how often is its use appropriate?
I have found myself increasingly using wide angle views

A specialist lens to me, for portraits and (some) landscapes, mainly because of its rather long minimal distance. But as long as it gets me two of my most memorable pictures per year, it will be special to me.

If the requirement is that we've owned it (now or in the past), that rules out much exotica getting a lot of nominations.
How many of us have owned FA 250-600s (I saw one once... does that count?)

And the workhorses might do it, though I didn't nominate my A 50mm f1.4... or even its Super-Tak older brother...

I expect we'll get some higher-end lenses that really come through, a few mid-range gems, and a couple of bargain performers.

It will be interesting to see how it falls out...

As a note, when I went through some of my photos, most of my favorites were shot with the following lenses (in no particular order):
A 50mm f1.4
FA 28-105 f4-5.6, now replaced with a DFA 28-105 after it got hazy
DA* 16-50 f2.8
Tokina 20-35
FA 50mm Macro
Though of course, that only speaks to the past 13 years or so that I've had a digital Pentax... no Exif on my film...
