The K-3II having:
"Number of recordable images: Approx.: 720 images
Playback time: Approx. 370 minutes"
That's interesting. I never checked the CIPA rating of my K-3 II just noticed that it was worse than the K-5. So without checking figures a user will "feel" the difference between 720 and 980.

I'm a bit sad to see the confirmation of the D-Li90 being the same capacity as before... an upgraded 2000 mAh version would have been appreciated.
The sticker on the bottom plate shows '5/9/12V'. Multiple battery options coming? Or just multiple charger options?

Chargers. 5V is the output, 9V is the standard battery charger and I assume USB-C is the 12V option.

How many images from a charged car battery? What's the life span of the shutter?

Unless I'm mistaken, USB-C is the size format of the connector. Nothing to do with voltage.

USB charging offers multiple options. I assume that you could use a regular USB charger, they use a USB Type A outlet and provide 5V (max 2A). Proprietary systems have chargers with the same outlet, but they are specified for an output of either 5/9/12 V, depending on the abilities of the device to be charged ( Quickcharge etc.). A new Standard is implemented for chargers in the newest generation of USB, they would normally have an USB-outlet of Type C and have a system called Power Delivery, that can provide 5-20 Volt with 5 A, thus a Notebook can be charged with that. If the K-3III can accept 15V this will probably be used for faster charging (with the provided charger). Chances are high this might work with other chargers too, that support Power Delivery. And, I would assume, if you use any other (regular) charger or attach a normal powerpack you will charge it with 5V.

Edit: unfortunately all this things also require a cable capable for higher voltage, in worst case an old cable will just limit charging to 5V. Still, if I forget the dedicated charger or cable I can't do anything now with my KP, here I can still charge the battery over night...

5v is the standard output of a USB charging point. And 12v is indeed car charging through the cigar lighter.

The Ricoh AC166 adapter can output 5V, 9V or 12V through an USB-C port.
If I'm not mistaken, USB-C Power Delivery can support additional voltages so I guess that's what they used.

A normal powerpack might not allow you to use the camera while charging. But, I see there are power packs also supporting 5, 9 and 12V.

And in actual use you will never get those figures.

Hmm I've heard CIPA is with flash so that would probably mean that the K-5 pulls way ahead for non flashers like myself. Makes more sense that way.

With my current K-3, I have on occasion exceeded 1000 images with one charge. If you are shooting wildlife, birds or action in burst mode, the fact that you are not running the camera a long time to get your burst mode images really creates some wild numbers.

Conversely I'd on occasion put my camera a soft case while it was still turned on (and eventually heard the camera focusing with jostling in the case) , and had less than 400 on a charge. Walking with Live View turned on eats battery like there is no tomorrow.

Depends on the usage. I once got some 1500 frames out of a single battery charge, on a K-1; but I was shooting bursts.
