AF point layout

How does this compare to the earlier speculation by forum members?
I seem to recognise a layout that I have seen here being speculated about.
Looks powerfull!

Store Location Info

how would this way of using an external GPS cooperate with the astrotracer?
Would that be feasible? what else does the astrotracer need?
Dip?
Azimuth?

It won't, unless the camera has an integrated compass.
The Astrotracer needs both the GPS coordinates and the direction (provided by the compass). A smartphone cannot provide the direction.

Isn't the compass already built-in even if there is no GPS?

I don't think it is. It wasn't on the previous models (those without a GPS).

It's somewhat different, but that was a good speculation (the image I've posted is from the manual).

The K-3 III's AF seems organized into a central grid with 2 lateral columns on each side. There are more rows, and the points are less clustered in the central area (a good thing IMO).
I believe the lateral columns are more distanced horizontally than the Info Screen image is suggesting (perhaps more in line with the speculation image).
I'm not sure how to interpret the squares ("points") with a lighter border; there are too many of them to say these are all cross-type.

And to think that when the K-3ii came out, we heard complaint after complaint because it had a GPS instead of a flash - now we are hearing reverse arguments.
Surprised? I'm not.

Maybe the squares are the *selectable* points?

Any thoughts?
Does this mean there are going to be 117 AF points?

Did I miss something about the operating manual for the K-3 Mark iii? Is it possible to tell us more information?

Right, now that you said it it seems an obvious possibility.

Not much - the part about WiFi and Bluetooth is available at the FCC site:
RICOH IMAGING COMPANY, . DIGITAL CAMERA R03010 FCC ID 2ACZS-R03010
See User Manual; the Internal Photo shows a partially disassembled camera.

The image I've posted shows the WiFi icon.

The icons on the upper 4-circular button are both relative to normal and delayed shutter modes.
This could compensate for the absence of delayed shutter info (but the presence of mirror-up icons) indication in the view-finder...
