It was not to ridicule your tip.

I actually dream about making a small specialist shop in the future, but that requires me to move from Denmark Look at the price of that thing! Maybe they can in China, but I cannot survive on 4 dollar an hour-salary.

There are some very skilled crafters in Asia, but Fuji and Leica gets all the sexy accessories. Maybe there is a tiny market for Pentax

Oh I know you were not ridiculing and I wasn't upset at all PU leather is cheap and nasty and i wouldnt want one either the Fuji one was about £10. I was thinking you could make really beautiful ones to order and charge what they are worth there is quite a bit of money in Pentaxland

Can I just say this discussion of KP leather accessories will not be particularly discoverable in the middle of a "new K-3 III pictures" thread?

(Well, I guess I just did anyway...)

Indeed, a fun diversion but let's get back on topic.

Lol true, it’s actually K1 bondageware taken from the KP-J event thread. It does appear elsewhere in the forums

You can also buy them on eBay. To be fair, a lot of original Pentax body and lens cases were made from a similar material, although the lens cases I have don’t seem to have held up well over the decades. The “camo” finish (like all “camo” gear, in my opinion) is plain awful, but the black isn’t bad, and the tan is reminiscent of early Pentax body cases.

Did someone mention vegan leather? I didn’t know you were allowed to use vegan skins in that way.

I'm sorry guys, I just can't get excited about a new release straight out of the Pentax cave that doesn't include some type of articulating flippy screen!
It's the one feature that I absolutely have to have on any camera. I can live without on-board Flash dual card slots and other features, but not a flippy screen.
Even though there's going to be some slick new goodies ,I have zero excitement over this camera for that one simple reason , and I think Pentax has made a huge Monumental mistake!
I agree. It's a mis-step by Pentax, IMO, which won't serve them well generally. It killed any desire for me to purchase one, and I'm a dedicated Pentax APS-C shooter, chiefly because of the weight and size advantage over FF. APS-C is the perfect solution. I can print 75 cm / 30" fine resolution prints using even a K-5II with a good lens such as the 60-250. For me, the K-1II is not a viable alternative to the K-3III, which is why I bought the KP. The KP's tilt screen, fast processing and improved AF with fast lenses compared to the K-5II more than compensate for its short battery life, uncomfortable grip, lack of IR and top LCD.

That is glorious! Are you going to copy the curves on the K3 or go for the sloping KP style?

Regarding the flip tilt screen aspect. I do use mine and feel it was a mistake not to fit at least a flip. The one on the K1 was extremely well received. Pentax never seem to repeat styling cues though. Ok, the screen isnt the be all and end all, i dont have one on my K3 and i love that camera, i just feel it may have had a slightly broader appeal. Maybe they are thinking APSC flagship, no, APSC enthusiast model, why the hell not

They are probably looking to bring out a more video centric all rounder APS-C camera with flippy screen at lower price point than the K-3.

Though when I read "video centric", I read it as "does 4K", not that Ricoh would start chasing Panasonic, Sony, and Canon in high end video from stills cameras.

I think that's totally appropriate, but I agree with the broader consensus here that Pentax is never going to be the preferred brand for professional video cameras...
