Have you used a KP?
The software here doesn't read ISO accurately beyond 65K, but this photo - taken with a 60w bulb on our house - really was taken at 800K.
Yes, it has some noise, but under the circumstances, I am happy.

There is no reason for assuming the K-3iii cannot go another step and get similar results.
That photo looks remarkably like a light microscope image of a giardia parasite.

It looks exactly like a raiding raccoon.

Limiteds in "champagne gold"? I thought they were only available in black or silver
I have seen Silver Limiteds advertised as champagne in colour. It's all in the eye of the beholder!

Nokishita Camera just published several pages of the certification report written by Dekra and concerning the Pentax K-3 Mark III a.k.a. R03010:

Twitter

R03010.pdf - Google Drive

The Google Drive folder includes a pdf document with 23 pictures of the Pentax K-3 Mark III (both black and silver versions) together with various accessories (I-USB166 USB cable, AC-U1 battery charger, D-Li90 battery).
Wow! Looks amazing! Looks they built a mini tank

it may be a conscious design decision to couple GPS functionality from an accessory unit or smartphone. I'm leaning towards the latter... especially given the Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity. Such a connection would likely result in much less drain on the battery than in-camera GPS.
That's an intersting point, however I have never one heard of anyone complaining that astrotracer drained their batteries. A solution looking for a problem, if you ask me.

Also, in the world of phones that require a surgical consult to change the battery my camera with GPS enabled probably will last quite a bit longer than my phone no matter the use case.

Yep. Not a killer feature but still a very nice one IMO

I have!
I don't know it it's the gps but coming from the K-5 i found the K-3II considerably more battery hungry. I pretty much always have the gps on and haven't done comparative tests so it's always been just a hunch.

Only issue I’ve noticed with both in-camera gps on my K1 and with the external unit on my K3 is both loosing connection on a cruise ship, even on a balcony, due to all the metal over head.

maybe just tailing zero missing. But a shame for Pentax/Ricoh, people who write such stuff get an incredible high salary they have to live the "Pentax statement" and there it says "every detail counts"

I have seen that the K-P has 800k ISO and in the max range of the K50/K70/K3-II (51200) the pics look better, much better.
The K3-II has a more advanced noise reduction, so it's high ISO pics look better than that of the K50 BUT as far as I know it's the last Pentax model that comes with a Pentax sensor. The K-P already has the Sony CMOS sensor and the next generation of that will be in the K3-III
From my experience between my K-30 and K-3, the K-30 (same camera internally as the K-50) is MUCH better regarding high ISO shooting all the way to 12,800 ISO. Same sensor size, bigger pixels = less noise.
The K-3 controls noise well, but the images aren't nearly as clean as those from the K-30/50 16 MP sensor, at least from my results shooting both cameras over the years.
