What you don't see is that with Pentax it's consistent. Pentax is always doomed, Pentax can't focus on static subjects, Pentax has the failed strategy because all cameras must be of the same type. Or they simply don't exist.
Well, guys like The PhotographyApparatusSettlement briefly try to promote Pentax, hoping they'd make money out of it and be promoted to Ambassadors; when they fail, they start bashing hard, in revenge.
I hope Ricoh Imaging will manage to improve that, through visibility. It won't be easy.

Unfortunately, amateur videos made out of passion - like this one - aren't terribly well made and informative. It's logical, as one needs to gain experience at it.
Like you, I can't figure out the performance from it.
Pentax isn't doomed, Pentax is just not even talked about anymore. If they mention the brand its something like "they still make cameras???" We're beyond the doomed stage. People have expected Pentax to be out of business for so long they just stopped talking about it. Youtubers only seem to like the brands slipping them a check, seems very Canon/Sony positive on there. Tony Northrup let slip that Nikon stopped talking to them and low and behold it got very negative for Nikon on Youtube.

Nikon is the new "doomed" brand. Nikon right now feels like Pentax did when I bought it over 10 years ago. Solid image quality and just behind the competition for autofocus with better weather sealing for less money.

I hope this K-33 comes out swinging and crushes the autofocus to become the best DSLR on the market. That would be amazing. I'd love to see the YouTubers spin that.

Was anyone able to translate some of what these guys are saying in this video about the camera?

The problem of touch screen is that it doesn't work well with gloves in the freezing cold of winter. It's always annoying when I have to remove one glove to swipe my smartphone display with it's -10C outside. I hope that they keep controls via physical buttons on cameras, so that we can still continue to operate the camera in the cold.
Yes it's best to have both. My Z5 has a really good touch screen and the same button controls as previous cameras so best of both worlds. It would be super annoying if it was just touch. And touch screens are a mess if they're wet to use.

Agreed. Bluetooth 4 and 5 include options that automagically can use the WiFi physical transport layer, but the encoding isn’t the same as WiFi direct so it’s still a little slower, but at least rational!

Getting GPS from a phone is a good idea for tagging etc.I don’t personally care but some people do.
I don't know what Z5 uses (4 or 5)? Bluetooth is always on, even when the camera is switched off (unless you disable in settings). It uses next to nothing for battery and at any time I can open the app and the camera is there and download images if I feel like it. No need to take it out of the bag. Its pretty convenient. Hopefully the K33 is something like that. When you want to download large images it automatically connects via wifi for the transfer, then back to Bluetooth when your done.

Northrup is the Ken Rockwell of YouTube. It honestly boggles my mind that anyone takes him seriously.

If they used one of the sensors that mirrorless is using, like how NIkon used the same sensor as the Z6 but with two AF systems then maybe this one will have extremely fast live view as well.
Its an off the shelf from Sony, its in another companies cameras but not with a Bayer array and not with an accelerator unit.

So perhaps it'll be quite speedy?

It seems to be something like that with this K-33. Isn’t it anyway preferred to use both connections. If possible.
To be honest. It does look better now for Nikon. But they definetly rushed first patch out too soon. Atleast AF is not as bad as Panasonic... we will see how this Pentax will fare and how it works also in LV and movie(althou I don’t care much of movie AF). Looks like focusing is fast with OVF. And camera seems responsive too. Looking forward if there is more controlled video from Shanghai. And hopefully even some English. Can’t really understand more than action and they say AFc and AF and gestures are understandable.

Absolutely. Nikon is the new scapegoat. And now that Canon released one 8K camera, Sony isn't the best choice anymore. That's camera mentality, same as in the financial markets where the "experts" agitate the market, they told you to sell yesterday they tell you to buy the next day. So every time you sell and buy, the stockbroker get a commission. Same for cameras, the more often photographers switch brand (and lens mount), the more money they made. If you stick with the same lens mount, there's little money to be make, if you get a camera with another lens mount it means lots of $$$ (cameras+lenses..). That is why camera reviewers change directions like the wind.

About those online gurus on their youtube chanels, they also make money out of recommeding cameras and pointing out what they think about what. What is surprising, is that people do buy it. not all.
i was just thinking about how much I can save if I bought this K-3mk3 instead of buying in any other brand(I'v been thinking o getting 'hybrid' for video things, b-cam, documenting ect.). All of my lenses does work, they just have different Fov(which is not bad actually). If this new camera will deliver. I'll buy it and I'll buy next k-1 which will use most of goodies they'v made with this new one.

IMO the processing is not only a taste thing, it also depends a lot on the intended display media. High saturation, to me, looks pretty bad on screen*... but tastefully done it can look so engrossing on a good quality print.
For what it's worth, her portfolio is lovely, from what I have seen. I'd be proud of myself if I had taken some of those images.

*My own personal preference is an, I'd say, fairly understated look, low contrast when b/w, etc. I think that shows in most images I post

And if you are selling your images it might also be determined by what the market dictates.

Agreed... yet I'm sure Rene's processing choices are at least in part artistic licence. As she says on her site, "For me, the image my camera produces is just a starting point to achieve a final image that imitates a painting in its color, balance, and contrast, but still retains the detail and appearance of a photograph"...

Absolutely.

I have taken the time to read her thoughts on post processing and she is articulate and open as to why she has chosen certain styles, and what she wanted from a photograph. I for one am looking forward to hearing about her experiences - she will certainly have an opinion re. AF-C as she photographs animals in the wild.

Must've been answered before, curious to know, is there a reason why these are taking place exclusively in China?
