Here is a pretty nice review of the lens. One item that the website did not indicate, that the review showed is the ability to rotate the shift around the clock face, so that removes my main previous comment.

Optically a bit meh. I can see though that it could be a good buy for professional architecture and interiors shooters.

Hopefully March

The message I received from Laowa yesterday:

Hi,

The factory is working on it but I can't tell an exact time. Hopefully March.

Low distortion would certainly be an improvement over the Pentax Shift 28mm. Used mine once, and was quite distressed by the mustache distortion at the side of the frame.

..., the thickness of which would have to be 0mm. That's a bit challenging.

Even more interesting is patent 6838417 on ipforce.jp which appears to add a tilting function to the cameras sensor using the ibis mechanism

It is only possible because of the shorter register of the Xmount.

Between a K-mount lens (flange focal distance: 45.46mm) and an X-mount camera (flange focal distance: 17.7mm) one has to insert an adapter with a thickness of 45.46 - 17.7 = 27.76mm. This thickness is enough to include a tilt & shift mechanism.

Between a K-mount lens and a K-mount camera, one can only insert an adapter with a thickness of 45.46 - 45.46 = 0mm, i.e. nothing.

Is it possible if you don't mind magnification?

If you don't put optics in that adapter, you'll loose infinity focus.

I noticed they have another one that is half the price, but has more distortion.
