What's an AP 50?

I was filling out an online form on Pentax Canada's website and was presented with the list of dSLRs below. Which begs the question: What is an AP 50 (Prototype)?

Follow-up moments later:
A retro spotmatic-like camera described here -

yep, a limited edition of the K10D, with slight changes. 1) Controls are not identical as to give it a more "retro" look. 2) It is silver finished, and 3) No rtf flash.

I wonder how many have been sold - especially into the Canadian market.

AFAIK, only one was ever made. It never went into production, limited or otherwise. Obviously, none were ever sold. So, "proptotype" is not exactly correct. That word implies a pre-production item, built to work the bugs out before production. This is more like the exotic Detroit show cars; one-off creations that are never intended to see the inside of a showroom.

I would love to have one. I still find my old Spotmatic to be one of the best-looking cameras, ever. I can easily live without the built-in flash.

And that one 'person' is Pentax Japan.

I wonder what circumstances would lead them to register a form on Pentax Canada's website. LOL

If sexy means a cross between a sumo wrestler and a super model . I can't stand it!
