Of course, that one country is at the mercy of two regions...

If we Westerners could step back from our consumeristic fetishing, balance could be restored to the Force global economy.

Going back to the original quote from Pentax at the beginning of this thread, the word "indefinitely" is not used. It simply says delayed with no known new date. So the word was introduced in the title of the post, not by Pentax. I think people need to calm down a bit.
That's the word Petapixel use in their story, so I think the OP was just quoting from the press.

What reworking? The announcement says nothing about that.
However, due to delays in the procurement of some parts and the fact that we need more time to achieve the high performance and high quality befitting an APS-C flagship model, we have decided to change the scheduled release date.

If they only need parts why add anything to the statement?

Read it as they need high quality parts or custom parts they can't source from another supplier. Can you imagine a green aperture solenoid level problem in a $1500-2000 flagship camera? Nikon is big enough to get away with an oil on the sensor type problem, Ricoh Imaging isn't.

Not on this thread

We will just have to wait for the release and that is all there is to it

It used to be Pentax gave you the most bang for the buck. Now way more than Nikon. Not for me. Why more than the K-1? Doesn't make sense.

In abstract terms, the free market.
Anything more specific is gonna get political within miliseconds.

By all means, we're on page 16 already, might as well get this thread locked?

"Worldwide Semiconductor shortage?" Why do you say that?

I don't see Covid affecting production much at the manufacuturers here where I live. Before I retired, my day job was working for some of the giant manufacturing companies in this region. Still in touch with them. At these companies, they are producing product just as fast as they did before the Covid virus. What makes you think that the production of camera sensors is down because of the virus?.

I would expect just the opposite to be true - that there's a surplus of camera sensors (and probably most other camera components too) because of the down turn in camera sales.

Also, every week I purchase dozens of items from other countries. For the most part, I'm receiving them in as timely a fashion as I did before the virus.
A few headline update:
Semiconductor shortage update: Nearly one million vehicles delayed | IHS Markit
U.S. to Press Taiwan, TSMC to Resolve Auto Chip Crunch - Bloomberg
What's causing the chip shortage affecting PS5, cars and more? - CNBC
Opinion: This is how the great chip shortage happened ? and how it gets solved - MarketWatch

It has been an ongoing news for some time already.
And part of my investment is in Semiconductor related stock here in Japan so one of my ear is glued to the news.

But is it the original floppy screen that the parts supplier couldn't supply and forced RI into using a fixed screen design?

So to summarize everyone's points so far:

1 The K-3iii may cost $2-3k USD.

2. By the time the K-3iii is available, a Big Mac for you and a couple of Happy Meals for the kids may also cost $2-3k USD.

I don't believe so. They're having problems integrating the solenoid-actuated flip-out, drop-down screen.
