Regarding price, the new ones look like they're going to be exactly the same price as the old ones in the UK, not cheaper as in the US. Special offer prices such as christmas or black Friday etc might be different.

They're cheaper on SRS pre-order, as robbiec pointed out, and it doesn't say there's any discount...

FWIW, the German Ricoh Store lists the HD 31 Ltd at 1099€, a whopping 400€ cheaper than the SMC. The 77mm is listed at 799€ instead of 1049€.

Might even be able to get a 31 at some point...

In Canada, at least two retailers are listing the HD FA Limited lenses at:

HD FA 31mm Limited: CAD $1329.99 + 13% sales tax = $1,500 (~ EUR 976 at 0.65 exchange rate)

43mm: CAD $769.99 + tax

77mm: CAD $1029.99 + tax

For comparison, the SMC FA 31mm Limited is selling for CAD $1300 + tax = $1,470.

A glass element in the 31 limited has been removed. The SMC model had 9 glass elements, the HD model has 8. See the diagrams attached.
The diagram on the website has now been fixed and it has 9 elements again!

The J Limited 01 is now on display at the Ricoh Imaging Square in Tokyo. They posted some nice images on Twitter that show the colors off well.

It's to be hoped they stay in Japan. Ugly doesn't begin to describe what they have done to that camera.

The blue color is more ‘metallic’ than my K-30, but similar.
They are intended for Japanese consumers.

The styling is redolent of Japanese comic art, which is popular with groups of young people all over the world. The problem is that they generally don’t have the money to buy these, although they always seem to have money for costumes and tattoos.

Yes we'll, young people aren't buying cameras anyway, as they seem quite satisfied with their cell phones.
This does beg the question exactly who is the target market for a fairly high end camera that looks like a kid's toy taken from an amime cartoon

The usual answer to questions like these is “Japanese collectors”.
Maybe they won’t sell, and you can get one for $750.

Hmm. If they’d managed to squeeze a small flash into that Neanderthal brow, there might have been a practical point to it. Some other aspects of the add-ons I don’t mind, but I wouldn’t remotely consider buying one just for the grip mod and the AOC sticker.

I'd get more enjoyment of ownership from a few good bottles if Scotch.
